Find the Simpsons

I think the town, Springfield, the Simpsons live in is really any-town USA. However, people talk about clues to Springfield’s location as if the location could actually be figured out.

I’ve read some clues about the location on the net, but I have a couple clues I’d like to test out. During 2 episodes, the distance from Springfield to another city was reveled. In one episode, they showed a sign where Orlando Florida was 2,563 miles away. In another show, they said Branson Missouri was 1,000 miles away.

What would be the possible locations for Springfield if:

1,000 miles from Branson, Missouri
2,563 miles from Orlando, Florida.

What we should really be looking for is Shelbyville. If there is a springfield next to it... then thats the one.

Yeah, but that might be a red herring. They will go to Capitol City sometimes, but there is no such town.

how many springfields have a nuclear plant, a mnt range, its own brewery, a desert-like area, an no middle/high school?
