While the calorie count seems fine, I can understand not being content with only being served cold meals.

If he lost 100 pounds in 8 months he should be grateful. Stupid hick. My fathers wife works in a jail as a cook and she has stated numerous times that inmates eat better than most of us. Hell she gives me some of the food for free and let me tell you its pretty decent. Chicken, pizza, burritos, chickn nuggets, you name it. Also they probably do give him enough food, but because of his fatness, he needs twice the normal amount. And really why are we allowing him to sue, he is in prison, you broke the law you shouldnt get any rights you tub of goo

Awwwww. He's forced to eat a regular diet instead of whatever the hell he was eating that got him more than 400 lbs. Hard life there.

Well crap, if they served food like this in high school, the one thousand kids at my school would be a lot happier.

This statement (and some others in this thread) hurts on so many levels. Do you seriously believe that?

    Anecdotal evidence for the phail.

He hasn't be found guilty yet. Not that it matters I suppose, people are never wrongly accused or jailed, right?
Also, eight months awaiting trial? That's pretty bad.

Why does it hurt? He's in jail for murder. You believe that people that take the lives of others should keep all of their rights? Especially the right to sue?

Prison is not a resort. You are their for a purpose and it's not to eat eight square meals a day so you can keep up your 400+ pounds. If this guy's looking for sympathy he can find it between sh*t and syphilis in the dictionary.

The fact that he's been jailed for eight months without being proven guilty is pretty bad. I'd worry about that more than whether he's happy with the meals. Is this a pretty standard thing? I know people can be jailed in the UK to prevent them doing a runner, but I wasn't under the impression it could be anywhere near that long.
