From reading all these ideas on this forum, i cant comprehend how we r going to be able to run unreal without lagging out our asses...i mean think of all the stuff our pc is going to have to handle...Light blooms, Bump mapping, soft shadows, 'heat haze', liquid reflections, streaming maps, etc..(that list could go on forever)..My ques. is will the 64 bit processor be enough??it looked good on the demos for GoW and UT2k7, but there is still alot of developing to do im sure...

one other thing how will our harddrives hold up; and what kind of contraption will unreal be stored on? BLuRay? Dual sided DVDs? Questions questions questions....

If there are a lot of complex effects in the next ut, I'd like the game developers to give us more options on what we can disable. Instead of having only having a high medium low on world effects we should be given a list of options in the .ini of what effects we can disable.

Some of these effects might get in the way of gameplay, but it doesn't matter, because when people want to play competitively they will be able disable the effects, and when they want to enjoy a really fun and immersive experience they can enable everything. :D People on lower end computers won't be required to render soft shadows, light blooms, and etc.

2 DVDs worth of content would be insane!

# of DVD'S wouldn't matter too much. It's not like you have to use them to play. You just install it once and leave it.

I just think it would be insane getting 2 dvds woth of content. A crapload of work goes into making 2 dvds worth of content!

Not with Unreal Engine 3, coz everything is going to be so huge (textures, models...etc), so it's real easy to fill up 2 dvds with UE3. I bet UT2K4 with UE3 graphics would prolly take up 3 dvds (just a wild guess), 2 at the least.
