teh Intarweb, duh
One of the biggest problems with UT2K4 is that Epic does not enforce clients to run the latest UT2K4 patch when connecting to servers.

This is bad because the original version of UT2K4 has keygens that work, as well as many hacks and exploits.

I hope UTXMP somehow enforces running the latest patch.

UTXMP is being compiled on the latest version of UT2004. In other words, at release, if it supports 3323, you won't be able to run it on 3270.

Also, while a 3270 can connect to a 3323, it is limited to the fixes on the server.

A long long way from home...
*bump* for a random question...

Can the UT2004 be hacked?

ie. the latest patch takes away the option of being allowed to have coloured names... can those lines of code be taken out for a UTXMP version of the patch?

This would be cool if in fact it was possible :)

It is posible, yes to get name colors in utxmp, but i do haft to say that work has to be done on the settings for utxmp in order to prevent the name colors from getting out of hand, common, i think that clan colors should be limited to 2, maybe 3, depending on your name.

I think 2 for the clan tag and one for the name would be good - or vice versa. Most people don't have more than 3 anyway!

Think about cool tags like *=)IAS(=* and such like, where the clan tag is both a prefix and a suffix to the name...

I vote for 3 colours :D

i knw that most clans will say that 2 name colors is more than enough ;) after all, i know how hard it is to keep the falsehood down, because it is a lot harder to mimic a exact name color, from the command line... and i vote for 3, because i know that it will be good enough ;), if not, overkill.

well if any of you remember that one reason why the damn XMP master server crashed was becuase of the Colored names. so not coding it in is a good idea.

as for dandels last post. you can't take names in UT2k4. you can't in UT, you can't in UT2k3. you can only do that in XMP. as far as I know anyway's. ive tried, and it won't let me. perhaps im wrong?

I do agree that the master server crashing because of colored names is bad... but it is a problem that can be remedied easily, with proper thought on how to get name colors done w/o issue.

yes, xmp has that issue, but i have seen games (in 2k4)with 3 or 4 people with the exact same name, explain that one for me ;).
