DSL users please help!!!

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

OK first the web site and now I am getting it to something else that I know very little about....DSL. This is what I need your help with. I would like to know what is a good conection speed for gaming. These are my options.

Inbound Speed 608
Outbound Speed 128

Inbound Speed 144
Outbound Speed 144

Inbound Speed 384
Outbound Speed 128

OK so I know that Faster is better but with IS 608 and OS 128 will games play online well and what about serving a game? Does anybody have this speed and if so what is your ping when you play online. Thanks for your help. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif,

None of those options are ideal for a server. And from what i can tell, you must be out of distance for standard DSL (ie, more than 4 or 5 miles from the CO). So, if you wanted to run a server i would just get the 608 / 128, because 14kps extra isnt really worth it when you can have such a download.

If i was you, i would look into getting cable. Though not at all as stable or reliable as DSL(no serving on standard cable /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ). It is better by price, speed of up to 1.544 mbps d/l (T1 Speed), and 196 kps upstream. Of course the 196 up kinda bites, but it shouldnt effect you since you can't run a decent server on it anyway.
