DOS window question

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

At my school when in a DOS window you can hit the up arrow to scroll through the past commands you have entered, but at home this feature is missing. They have NT at school and I have W98SE at home. Do I have to enable this somewhere or is it just not in Win98? I looked but couldnt find anything.

Doesn't it depend on the version of DOS that you are running. I have the feature your talking about with DOS6.22 but I didn't have it when I was using ver4.1 (at least I don't think I did)

L_S, you could try typing
Doskey [enter]
when you open up your Dos window. That is the Dos program that was good for what you want. It is still there in the win98/command folder.

What HFD says will work. You can also add the the following line to your "autoexec.bat"...

C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\DOSKEY

...then you'll have it.

it's a TSR (wow, haven't used that term in a while)
It uses some of that precious 640k of RAM that DOS apps need as free as possible.
