Well I just got the game, and it's got me pissing my pants already. Honestly, I've spent minutes deciding whether I want to go through the next door or not. The most enthralling single player game that I've played by far. What I want is a co-operative mode so I can get online with a friend and get on teamspeak, and enjoy it the experience rather than dreading it. Dudes, I'm gonna have nightmares.

are you guys all sissys or something
just go through the doors gunblazing
    enemys are not smart
    eat bullets like smarties
and are just so obvious in they're attacks
and the whole keycard thing is old as hell

for me personally after ending it
resident evil in it's time was way better in style and atmosphere along with silent hill
silent hill on ps1 still beats doom as in peeing you're pants of wicked ****.

doom lacks innovation with an exception of the graphics.

    YEAH!

Haven't died once in Marine difficulty... except for the time when we were trying to make a jump... and didn't realize, shift=run ... so some nasty falls there.

Wasn't so obvious when you meet that second imp, and he freakin' pounces at you from the other side of the door. Now that I'm a lot further in to the game, I've learnt to stop getting scared of the dark rooms. Admittedly though, when new demons arrive, my heart does seem to skip a beat,

eg, when the first bull thing starts bashing down the door,
and the little cherubs come and slash your face off - that's creepy

But yeah. My hobby right now is laying into the fat zombies, ducking out of their grasp before diving back in to give them a black eye. So much fun to be had there.

The new tentacle-armed marine soliders are tough, and I am not looking forward to meeting the super one. Anyway, yeah. I like the game, keeps me on my toes.

    System (Desktop....not the POS laptop):
AMD Athlon XP 2700+ w/ 333 MHz FSB
    Infineon DDR333 1gb Ram
    Asus A7V333-X Via 333
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro Vivo (400 MHz GPU, 660 MHz 128mb Ram (Samsung)) (AGP 4x fast write)
    IBM 20 gb HDD @ 7200 RPM
    Hitachi 20 gb HDD @ 7200 RPM
Tsunami Diamond Audio 7xx surround card
Princeton Graphics Senergy 714 LCD 17 inch flat panel
Windows XP Pro SP1 w/ all performance enhancing tweaks and Rage 3d
(**note: 3 non-essential background tasks were terminated to conduct this test)

    Doom 3 Settings:
    1280 x 1024 w/ High Res or 1024 x 768 w/ Ultra Res

Game runs fluid most of the time. Large areas with a lot of objects or effects tend to lag a little. This is before the ATI tweak as seen above. I'll add that later, thanks. :) I wonder how good it'll get then.
