I think it would be a good idea if we could all donate like $2-5 per month to SS so that, hopefully, they can quit their day jobs and work on the mod full-time  :D . Just think, if everybody did that....boom.

I'm game.

*moved to General* - people can actually reply now ;).

Sorry, but $2-5 is hardly enough for a team of 12+ people to make a living. I like the idea, but I'd prefer to put my money into other community works such as Shan's hosting and other servers.

$10 then? :D

Sorry about the wrong forum posting. I knew 2 seconds after I posted, "wait....this doesn't look right..." Thanks for moving.

I also asked a fellow clanmate, "What do you think happens to the donation money? Do you think Beppo just spends it on Beer and hotdogs?"

Lets see... 2000 inf players paying 10$ a month access fee, thats 20,000$ US dollars a month. Thats 240,000 dollars a year plenty enough to support beppo and a few key coders and animators etc.
I truely think if they crank out INF for 2k4 supporting multiple game types, your standard EAS, Non-Vehicle small teams based EAS game type (smaller maps, faster action), they can go retail fast and rake in some $$$. So perhaps living off a mere 240,000$ a year is not bad considering the millions youll get later ;)

Of course, you'd need to convince 2000 inf players to pay 10$...

For which, of course, you'd need 2000 inf players...

The idea is very good, but i doupt we'll get close to the 240000 figure.
We did something similar in another community, with memberships. 10$ for 3 months, 4$ for 1 month. It gave a few goodies like file attachement in PM, webspace for attachements, etc. Since we have our own forum it helps. We raised this money to finance Q3 and U2k4 private and public servers.

Anyhow, something similar could be done with INF (maybe have free cds and/or private fast download servers for members *cough* file planet *cough*), but I doupt anyone could life of it ;)

Well, 100 active players or not....I think we should have some kind of drive (bribe) so we can see this game evolve to a better engine within 1-1.5 years. Even if it is just spent on cheap hookers, liquid bread and liquid meats.

Mmmmmm, liquid meats.

As far as bonus materials for those who donate goes....

If we reach the $3,000 mark, Beppo should be forced to code a "2.8 bugs" mutator that allows ghosts to interact with dead bodies (flying corpse!) and doors. Man, those were the days.... ;)

If I actually had a job and money I would probably donate some. I think it's a great idea, but it wouldn't really pay the bills, only give some extra money to go into the making of the game and motivate the team.
