I believe everything as far as movement is the exact same from xmp, including gravity. Movement system from xmp will be the same in utxmp, so most of the trick jumps should stay the same.

I believe they're not planning on changing the gameplay. That means (if you've played XMP) standard dodge, and normal jump...but you also have a boost, kinda like a mini-jetpack which is pretty much your doublejump..which launches you different levels depending on which class you are.

I don't beleive there's wall jumping...but I'm not with them, so maybe it is, I'm hoping not though

Wall dodging was in xmp afaik, was added or fixed near the end of the beta.

This caught my eye

"Taken from UTXMP internal release 8 showing SKAARJ BASE outer area from XMP Crashflight"

aside from speculating and wishful thinking that Skaarj might actually be a playable race [crosses fingers]

Actually, that map has one skaarj base and one human base, just in the way it looks. But, as RaptoR said, we are hoping for more models aswell :)

ohh I remember lol..completly forgot....never really used it much though, since it was mostly outdoor..although I always liked gliding up slopes as ranger...or using them to boost you many-feet into the air..thenf alling down too far and dying...is that still there?

Yes, may take a little bit getting used to though, on the ut2004 engine, I think terrain is a bit different. But its still possible and still fun to do :D

Currently the Skaarj aren't a playable race. That pic was made before we knew which team (red vs blue) was going to occupy the crashed Skaarj ship in that map. Although if we're able to use U2 player models I don't see why adding Skaarj players would be much of a problem.

Only Skaarj players or a whole arsenal of Skaarj weapons and veichles aswell[insert sinister smilie] :D ? Yeah I know its pretty unlikley to happen but ever since Unreal1 thats something ive always wanted to see a class based Skaarj vs Humans...

Its great to see such a devotion keeping XMP alive since its such a true gem of gameplay that few could match and i really hope it catches on and can bask in the glory it so truly deserves, all thanks to you guys!

Ok, advanced movements. Boost Jumping? Which existed in ut2003 and followed with the unreal 2 enginge... it adds some very unique movements and allows special tactics, i hope you can work that one in too even if it was removed in ut2004.

i do not see any problem with doing that in utxmp... after all, just take a look at how the jetpack mutator works... it is an easy concept.

boost dodging?

I love xmp and the only reason I bought ut2k4 was so that I could play utxmp. I tried ut2k4 but I hated not having boost.
Boost, as far as I am concerned, is an integral part of xmp.
Don't get me wrong. I very much appreciate what you guys are doing and have done. But...I didn't see boost in the really cool video and that has me worried a bit. :( Are you sure it is there? Again, for me, 'boost' is what set xmp apart from 2k4.
Trying to find hard to reach spots and vantage points added tremendously to the game.

Thanks again for all of your time and effort it is very much appreciated. :)

Just wanted to make sure you know that I am not complaining just wondering ;)

Well I do think all the boosting and slope jumps etc should be retained... except for one thing, the wall dodge. I think it simply exagerates the Ranger's advantage on mobility, which brings out the balance debate... I need a medic!

takwu is right, what about the tech, you haft to weigh each ones atributes.

Tech- middle ground, normal jump hight, and normal speed, has a lot of gass, and the torrets are also there.

gunner - low ground, low jump height, and slow, has conc nades to speed up movement and jump, and also has mines to help with defense.

ranger- high ground, fast, has smoke, energy lance, and long distance riffle, but toher than that, it has nothin else.

on those 3 marks, the movement seems good, and the weapon ballence seems good, but the ranger's riffle needs to be a 1 hit kill weapon(when faced with a headshot), because of the fact that.

whoh whoh whoh...I'm a pure ranger player..and I don't even want 1 hit kills. I'd own too badly..the gunner is the one that neeeds help...he's helpless in open ground..although he's not supposed to be there in the first place....
