No...not really...although it is a very nice idea, I dont think it actually works. All these "past life" people seem to have been some famous figure, noone wants plastic surgery to look like the dung beetle they used to be

Reincarnation hasn't been invented by some freaks in our western industrial nations, it is an essential belief in ancient religions like Hinduism.
I don't want you to believe in reincarnation, but judging a thousands of years old belief by some freaks of our time, that's kinda dumb.
Oh, and I rather doubt any Buddhist or Hindu would tell you he was Cleopatra or anything. I don't think they claim to know.
i use to be a dung beatle but seriously havent you heard of these little kids who can recal their "past lives"? its hard not to believe a kid who can recall somthing like that. i remember this one kid who always said he was a pilot in this war or somthing and also said what his name was and when his parents did some research they found out the guy was real. and another creepy thing is that the boy had a birth mark where the war guy had his fatal wound

Claw : I have the greatest respect for Buddhism, and I know noone who actually studied it or knew about the religions that "invented it" would ever think they were the reincarnation of some famous figure. And even if they were, they wouldnt brag about it.
Past lives has more evidence supporting it, but honestly you can find evidence for absoloutly anything under the sun and that doesn't mean its true...but i'm staying open minded about it.
