I personnally think that horoscopes, along with all other forms of fortune telling, are blatent scams ( horoscope for example use several tricks to make the user be able to interpret them in just about any way possible, e.g giving no specifc details, telling people what they want to hear, etc ). What do you think?

Horoscopes are the hugest crock of bullshit ever to grace the earth.

No, I don't beleive that they'll predict what'll happen to you. Yet, it's mildly entertaining to read them when needs be.

you would be extremely suprised if you knew the basics of astrology.
no i dont believe it has much to do with your daily lives, but it does give an immense amount of insight to character, and even physical build of your body.

both me and my wife have picked peoples signs out within minutes of meeting them. no we cant do that with everyone because everyone is unique. the people we were able to pick out were very much the sun sign they were under. there are so many influences that may override a sunsigns influence that a lot of people say "i'm nothing like my sign". if they dug deep enough tho they would see that they are very much their own horoscope.

i'm not trying to sell anyone here. there is a deeper truth out there and astrology lets you see it. it is physical, and there is no denying it. i'll make it easy for everyone out there:

screw all the sunsigns. whats important is your elemental make up. i.e. fire, earth, air, or water. every body has all or some of these elements in their charts, but are usually dominated by one or 2. if yer fire- you like action, being seen, sports-usually taller, thin
if yer earth- you like building and structure, food, money-usually heavier set, medium hight
if yer air- you like to talk and think about ideas, acedemic, -usually thin, tall or short depending on other influences
if yer water- emotional, psychic- usually heavier-easiest to be overweight, usually shorter.

like i said most people are a combination of 2 elements.

the more of 1 element you are the more extreme your personality is in that direction. "well rounded" people usually have a balance between all 4 elements.

i've been into astrology for 20 years, but i never read my horoscope in the paper. so you folks are half-right. the **** you see in the tabloids is ****. but dont discount the real astrology because of the shams that just want your money. take those 4 simple elements and examine the people you know. then you will see that it is a physical reality. it might also give you a little tolerance of the people around you that are a different elemental make up then yerself.

I did a numerolical analysis of one of my friends names ( this is where you convert a persons name into a number and look it up on a table to find out about them ) and I thought "Wow...this works! It fits him exactly". Then I realised the description fitted me as well...the thing is, it relys on being very vague and telling you what you want to hear so that your mind interprets it in the right way. If it said "This person is a world class footballer" then it wouldnt work, but instead it would say "a talented sportsman", which would apply to or be appreciated by just about everyone. And they always give enough info that even if one fails, there are enough to make up for it. Horoscopes work in the same way.

No, I don't believe in them. I read horoscopes every now and then if they're in the magazine I'm reading or something, but never yet have I had a day that went as the horoscope said it would.

i think you people missed the point. horoscopes you read in the paper have to be vague. they are running on the assumption that there are only 12 kinds of people on the planet.

try categorizing 6 billion into 12 groups. thats vague generalization.

what i'm saying is your own horoscope is different than anyone elses. even twins born minutes apart will have a different chart.

so you can balk but there was a day when people thought the world was flat and laughed at those who thought it was round.
so close your eyes and die in ignorance.

There was also a time when people thought we had daylight because some guy in a flaming chariot had places to go. Who's laughing now?

No one is insisting you conform Vendetta.

My point is that just because I don't personally believe in horoscopes, I don't start attacking those who disagree with me.

You, however, chose to call those of us who don't believe in horoscopes ignorant. Have you got a chip on your shoulder or something?

I'm not saying you shouldnt believe in them, I'm saying I dont and giving my reasons...although, as for your

"so you can balk but there was a day when people thought the world was flat and laughed at those who thought it was round.
so close your eyes and die in ignorance."

comment, I could just as well say that an anti-horoscope statement and it would work just as well.

I hope that snide comment wasnt aimed at me Sven or...

:instagib:

...I dont pick on peoples beliefs and i'm not insulting Vendetta in any way, but I have never seen any evidence that prediction works and I have seen many ways in which it makes itself as likely as possible to succeed, so why should I believe in it? Just because people dont believe in everything thats put before them doesnt make them close minded.

the root word of ignorant-ignore is accurate. how much time have you devoted to studying astrology? if you havent spent much time gathering some facts other than the occasional reading of a magazine, then you are ignoring the information i was offering.

however i actually used the phrase from startrek NG where Warf tells some Klingons from the past that they would "die in ignorance" if they didnt listen to him. this is an unreal forum and i decided to go with the "smack-talk".

lol@Vendetta for thinking this lot would be at all receptive to his ideas

-agreed.

but I have never seen any evidence that prediction works

i never said i use astrology for prediction. i dont much believe in predicting anything either. i said astrology is good for understanding personality.

and of course i would never conform to anyones ideas. i just like sarcasm.

Hmmm...

"I never said i use astrology for prediction. i dont much believe in predicting anything either. i said astrology is good for understanding personality. "

Hmmm...that I would be more willing to believe in, although I've never seen evidence that it works, or rather I've seen evidence that it always works in that it is too vague and could be interpreted any way you like. I'd be the first to admit that i'm no expert in this field though...could you shed some more light on how it works? Do a numerogical anylysis of Frostblood maybe ? ;) I know that you have to you their real name but it could be interesting...
