Do I need to own one?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Is it possible to host games on a server that’s not yours? I don’t own a server, but I would like to maybe run one, is that possible, I mean are there any free services.

I’m out of my mind… :D

Your not suppose to tell me that… :D

So lets say I did buy myself a "little" server, how would I be able to provide the bandwidth? I know my ISP wouldn’t be to supportive. I mean I’m on a cable modem, but I’ve tried setting my PC up as a servers, and I was only able to provide 5kbps bandwidth to others.. Not good

I went to your home page...your email ends with @home...doesn't this mean you have a cable connection?

you can host a server any time you want and you should have enough bandwidth for a medium sized server (no more then 10 players total). You will just have a dynamic IP address so each time you set it up you may have a different IP, but that's OK because as long as you have "advertise server" checked you should show up on the serverlist in Infiltration.

Thanks Zundfolge

Yes I’m on a cable, but AT&T @home service regulates their uploading bandwidth. I can download at over 300Kbps but I can usual only upload at 15Kbps. I mean I’m sure it would work ok, but I would imagine the lag would be a bitch. (This not a bad word by the way, it’s a female dog) :D
Servers are cheep these days, I just wonder how all the people hosting servers with 15 to 20 players are doing it. I have a feeling that a lot of these people are buddies with there bosses at work, and are using a company connection.
I notice that sometimes what I play INF online I see a Planet Unreal ad pop up in the top-left of the screen at times, and just thought that it was a prepaid service for those that were willing to deal with a few ads, I sure would! :)

Anyway, I’ll look into what you said, Thanks!

The Limey dedicated server costs around 100 pounds (150 dollars) a month. If you got that kind of cash, go for it :D They might be cheaper in the US or Canada tho'...
