Anyone played it yet? I found it to be kinda neat, although nothing great. It runs pretty damn slow on my computer (P2 300 + 160 MB RAM + TNT2 Ultra), I guess because of the huge ass map and all the interface crap they're pulling off (the security camera screen is really bad). The weapons were less than exciting. I guess I'm just used to Infiltration quality. The only cool part of the game is the adventure part; remembering keycodes, hacking stuff...Sneaking around even gets pretty old fast.

I d/led it yesterday. I thought it was alright, kinda' like System Shock 2 (rockin' game). But, then again, if I want to play a SS2-type game, I'll just play SS2. Oh, BTW, it ran real choppy on my computer too (P2 400mHz, 128Mb RAM, Riva TNT2).

Overtly Serious Chappy.
I've got a download cap, and 140MB will just push it way over. Either i'll download as much as possible at the end of the month and continue next month (god bless getright) or i'll try and utilise a little device known as a "zip disk"

Agree totally with you though Catalyst, the weapons look really cheap and plasticy, and that's just from screenshots.

Not to mention that on several screenshots I've seen he looks to be carrying several weapons and items too many all at the same time.

Problem with infiltration?

I just pretend that I'm watching a semi-interactive slide-show.

I have a PII-300 with 128 megs of ram and a Voodoo 3 and it runs perfectly fine. it only seems to go slow when I try and use the Security Panels.

also FYI, the reason it's so much like SS2 is because the project leader worked on it.

I really don't mind the pistol, that's mostly because it reminds me of the PPG in Blade Runner. the Minicrossbow is kinda cool, especially since the tranq darts take time to work (at which point they start trying to run away, then they just collapse).

the LAM's are cool too, many a guard has fallen prey to my Gas bombs.

also I like the near useless items, like the "Chocolate" bar ("Choco-lent dream - it's food, it's people, it's both !"), you can also smoke a pack of cigarettes (the Poison icon you get when walking into toxic gas and such flashes for a few minutes). not to mention you can get drunk (by drinking a bottle of cheap wine you find), your vision gets blurred.

Also keep in mind, this is supposed to be more of an RPG than a shooter (despite the fact that the first two-thirds of the demo are spent shooting terrorists).

Personally I love the cool touches in the Dialogue, I played through it twice using a different skill-set. the first part is pretty much the same, but there were a few things different in the second part. so I decide to go off exploring in UNATCO HQ, seeing if I could get an exploration bonus, I end up going into the bathroom marked "Women" (keep in mind I was seeing if I could get a bonus for looking around), the person in there yells at me, I take off. Later on, I get a stern lecture during my briefing with the UNATCO chief about how unproffesional that was. which didn't happen in the first game, where I pretty much stayed on the regular path

Yeah, I agree those little things are what make the game cool. I remember if you talk to a guard in front of UNATCO HQ and he asks you how you're going to take on the terrorists, if you reply that you're going to kick their ass he agrees and gives you a keycode to the communications van. If you say you're going to do it stealthy he disagrees and doesn't tell you the code. Kinda neat.

Why then, does it run sluggishly on my Athlon 700 with 256 megs of RAM and a geForce first gen. AGP x2 card with another 64 megs AGP aperture devoted to it? HUH? HUH?

I think it's beause you have an AMD board, they tend to make quite a few games run sluggishly (Some really good ones too, like Rogue Spear and Falcon 4.0, stupid K6).

actually, bad mojo, i think it's because of the fact that unreal engine seems as though it was designed for 3dfx glide, with opengl and d3d as afterthoughts... i've found d3d performance to be comparitively weak across the board for this engine. But of course i'm no expert /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
