i noticed that in the desert eagle avi that you can actually see the case fly out of the chamber and the next round slide into place... will this be the level of detail seen in 2.8?
and in 2.8 will the third person models and textures be the same as the first person ones?

More detail is always better. Bigger polycount is much better way to improve it than raising resolution. Big textures will also do, but look too "clean".

I would really want to see bumpmapping used in Inf. I know that it would require support from UT-engine, but that is really easy to add. I have already mailed about this to unrealed2@epicgames.com. Do the same, and maybe they'll add it. I didn't get any reply to my email, if you do, please post it here...

Bumpmapping is easy for mapper, just like making secondary texture, but in grayscale (black spots are "holes" and white ones are "bumps"). It doesn't slow the game down much, maybe 2-3 fps, but it's worth of it.

There's one detail missing in Inf 2.75, and that really annoys me; flashlight can't be seen. Yes, you can see the spot where another player is aiming it, but you don't see the flashlight. I'd like to see a nice effect there (lensflares and such stuff).

Thunderbird

Is AMD new processor, a new version of Athlon. It has only half of the L2-cache that Athlon has, but cache runs 1/1 speed with the core (like 700MHz, for both). Athlon's L2-cache runs 1/2 (in 500-700MHz processors, so that cache runs at 250-350MHz), 2/5 (750-?MHz) or 1/3 (?-)...

Thunderbird is a bit faster than original Athlon and will be available in speeds starting from 700MHz, even up to 1.4GHz (afaik).

My friend just got 700MHz one.

Thunderbird is only a couple of bucks more expensive than Athlon running at the same speed.

I have Athlon 700MHz (overclocked to 900MHz) ..

over clocking

if you dont over clock it wright it might only last a few months. my uncles friend had a 400mhz over clocked to 600mhz and it burnt out quickly.

your uncle's cooling system couldn't have been that efficient /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

not to get off topic.... but....

You both may be correct. Overclocking a CPU puts stress on the processor. More specifically, on the .18 micron traces of aluminum / aluminum & copper mix. When you pass electrical current through something that small, the traces warp. If you pass enough current with a high enough voltage, you can severly damage them. Dare I say, good cooling system or not.

It happens whether you overclock or not... a cooling system just keeps the copper in a more solid state, making it harder to warp.
