Welcome, one and all to my crazy idea post!

One idea that I had recently came after watching 'Saving Private Ryan', involving the 'sniper' scene. One soldier gets shot, and the rest have to sit and watch him die slowly. This also happens the wrong way in FMJ, as more troops are drawn in to their deaths by a crafty sniper.

While this by itself kinda sucks, a revival scenario could very well be possible. Imagine you're playing a particularly vicious INF game on your favorite server online, when a sniper gets you with a PSG shot to the gut. You were low on health to begin with, but now it's the nail in the coffin. IN real life, you might not actually die, you would just be incapacitated. If a medic came by fast enough, and was skilled enough, he could get you back on your feet in a few minutes depending on the wound. With the 'limited lives' in INF, why not add this feature?

A player equiped with a "surgical kit" could rush to your aid soon after death and bring you back on your feet, +25 health. However, if you got killed and your health dropped below -25 with the final shot, or of course you are gibbed, there is nothing to be done to save you. The way this would work is that you would hit fire to respawn when you wanted to, so if you did'nt want to wait, then you could just press fire to respawn back with a new 'life'. The player who kills a player who is later revived still gets his frag, though.

This would add strategy to the game, and a sense of comraderie (sp?). Nothing is more satisfying than being brought back after a terrifying encounter with buckshot at close range. This would also add 'sniper baiting'; and, if the animations could get done, dragging teammates onto your shoulders to carry to a field medic for attention.

hehe, well I guess we could have a real time clock that keeps up with the atomic clock in Colorado and at 5:00, a bell rings and I could do some animation support for everyone to stop what they're doing, clock out, and head over to Denny's until the next day.. hehehe- point is, there's only so much we can do since, at this time, it's not a game, but a mod. Perhaps with the huge success of Inf 3.0, we'll get funding for a single player project and can afford for the team to work on this full time- then extras like this will be easier to fit into our schedule. Fact is, we really don't want to be working on this 5 months from now, unless 3.0 is out and doing awesome and we're working on upgrading Inf with new technology, weapons, characters, etc. So, without wasting any more time /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif we have to limit ourselves to the stuff that can be done in a realistic time frame. lol- please don't get the impression I'm shooting down every idea that Rex has... just the good ones /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif

Well, thanks for clearing that one up. At least I can get some good feedback from none other than the mod leader. Every time. With bad news.

I'm getting used to it by now, but maybe I can get one of these brain malfunctions throught the door someday.....
