Custom Skins Not working

Hey,
I've downloaded tons of custom skins and I get pretty disapointed when a lot of them don't work on online servers.
But I was thinking that maybe I am doing something wrong..

For example, Hide's FireDrake only shows when I play agaisnt bots, offline.. same with the God Horus Pack.. and shows either Jacob or Arclite online.. (depending if there UTcomp is running or not).

Am I doing anything wrong or they just don't work online?

Hey LeGeNDaRy good to see you here... I know in order for other ppl to see the skin/model you're using it needs to be installed on the server you connect to. You should still see it yourself though in 3rd person view... That is, unless there's a problem with the actual model/skin (I think). I know there were two versions of God Horus (have you got v1 or v2?) and it'd be unlikely Hide would make a model with online issues given the perfectionist that he is.

To answer your query more definitevly I'll check them both out online first chance I get and let you know if I experience the same problem :tup:

[UPDATE] Well, I had no problem at all with FireDrake (didn't test God Horus). I tested FireDrake offline and online (without even using the online upl) and had no problem at all. Once your UT2k4 is patched to v3339 or v3355 (or later) you shouldn't have a problem either (that's the only reason I can think of). I connected, incidentally to a server v3355 running AntiTCC final.

Another possibility is you may be connecting to a server that isn't patched to one of those versions (which could be an issue) - If so, email the server admin to update (way too many servers running outdated stuff).

There are connectivity issues with Custom Species and SafeGame (mutator) but server admins can change that mutator's .ini file to allow species.

As for UTComp, I personally hate it, haven't got it and won't connect to servers that use it so if there are issues with that I'm not the person to ask. Hope that points you in the right direction, though LeGeNDaRy. I'd guess there aren't issues with God Horus either (once you've the second version that was released) or we'd have probably heard it before now

Yeah FireDrake worked on a server not running UTcomp.. same with the God Horus pack - My bad.
Man if only UTcomp fixed that it would be awesome

Hmm it seems it's UTComp so. I just never liked the mut. Probably best advice is to update that mutator to the latest version on your pc. Version 1.6 is the latest as far as I know. If you still have the issue after that probably best to mail the developers of the mut... I recently saw other issues with UTComp in another thread so it seems to be causing some problems lately

Seems v2 is the latest one (17MB)

I downloaded both versions of it.. (one is 17MB, and the other 15) but they're all the same =/
I was looking for the shiny version.. in the v2 pack.. it says that there's a shiny version of Horus, and a normal one.. it's the same for me.

Yup that was v1. v2 was suggested by someone else who didn't like the shiny version but I dunno' if there were any other changes made. I think that v1 is better alright - other ppl just wanted to jump on the modeller's band wagon no doubt by suggesting changes
