It struck me as ironic that by his actions on september 11th, Bin laden has probably indirectly done more for the people of afganistan than any diplomat or aid worker...if it wasnt for the WTC, the US wouldnt have lent bombing support, the Northern Alliance would almost certainly not have gained ground and tens of thousands would have died of disease or starvation under the Taliban...just something to consider.

I believe he did...his cronys were planning to use NBC weapons, so hijacking 4 planes would have been positivly primive to them...hard work, but not a challenge...even if he didnt do it, whoever did has probably actualy indirectly on balance saved lives : millions were in a state of semi-starvation and disease in afganistan ( and still are, but now help has a chance to get in ) and who knows how many would have died before the taliban got overthrown eventually...

Well, I fear there'll still be thousands of starving Afghans, that the Taliban are beaten doesn't mean things will get better from one moment to the other. Let's hope Afghanistan will succeed in forming a new democratic government; the Northern Alliance represents a minority in Afghanistan, some coalition of the different ethnic groups will have to be formed as a first step towards democracy. Also, nobody really knows what the Northern Alliance is up to.

Right behind you...
You all have conveniently forgotten that as of Sept. 10, the U.S. had already given $200 million in aid to the hungry/homeless in Afghanistan.

I've thought about whether Bin Laden's happy with himself, after creating the fall of his organization as well as the government he believed in....

The taliban are gone. They wouldnt otherwise have been. A maximum of 1000 civilians died, probably much less. Now thousands will be saved and millions are free. Yes, America was a big help.

I think he did...he has tried to blow up the WTC once before remember :p Even if he didnt personally organise it i'm sure he's the friend of the brother of the slave/wife of the man who did...and he would have done it if hed thought of it first.
