Creating Characters for UT2003

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hey,

So here's my story... I'm taking an indepentant study class at Boston College called Advanced Computer Graphics. Basically, what we're doing is designing a video game using the UT2003 engine to hopefully be distributed as a learning tool for elementary and middle school students. Any help that can be provided for us will be given credit once the project is complete.

With that being said, I need some help in character development. There's a couple of things I'm having problems with. First off, let's say I designed a character using Milkshape. I then imported the character into UPaint and painted the body of the character. After I was done, i saved it, and then selected "Add character into Unreal" from the File menu. Now what this did, was that it sucessfully added my character into the Player selection screen in UT2003. However, when I select my character and play him in a map, the skin and model i see is not what i designed for him, but rather just one of the other characters (coincidentally enough, the model of our NPC's that we placed in the map). Is there something else that needs to be done in order to "properly" add my character into UT2003? Any help will be greatly appreciated, and to reiterate, credited in our game. Thanks. I will be posting more threads following this for other character-related questions.
