Hi,

After installing Patch 227g and DieHard's Hi-End Unreal textures in NaPali, I noticed that NaPali's crates haven't changed to reflect the higher level texture. In Unreal, crates have the Hi-End texture.

Did I miss installing some textures, or is there something different about crates in NaPali? That is, notice the crates in the first level, opening stages of NaPali. Maybe it's just me.

UBerserker,

Looks as if I failed to install some texture. I wonder which package has those? I installed all of them (Packages 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5). Maybe some didn't take. I suppose I could just reinstall all of them, just for good measure. Anyway, I didn't know any of them has water on it.

Anyone know which package has the crate texture?

That texture simply wasn't made high res yet if you mean the UMS boxes which you can destroy..UBerserker meant that the high res textures should be made.

Also I have no idea what is greatemerald talking about.

You mean those drop boxes, right? the one with ums markings.

Hey Leo,

No, I'm referring to the boxes (metal crates) you see right at the beginning, inside the structure at the start as well as right after you leave the structure. I'm not talking about the drop boxes.

At least to me those metal crates look the same as those in Unreal, but I leave that determination up to you guys. You know more about it than I do. I'm just asking in case I'm missing something. I hate missing stuff. :D

Ah well. They are MMCrate3 actually. The texture used in nyleve was MMcrate2, they are slightly different in color and it is possible that S3TC texture for MMCrate3 does not exist. Better check out with someone having the S3TC textures, I don't have them atm. But it seems MMCrate2 is S3TC and MMCRATE3 isn't.

Ah I get what GreatEmerald means with water, he means those with the blood etc on it or water, the ones that animate partially. But they can be updated as well anyway.

Leo & UBerserker,

Well I don't know for sure what to conclude. I know nothing about MMCrate3 or MMcrate2 crates. Yeah, the crates in NaPali are more tan, while those in Unreal are more gray, as I recall.

Anyway, my tan crates in NaPali definitely are not S3TC, while my gray crates in Unreal are S3TC. I checked all of my S3TC textures in NaPali against my CD and they all match, so I think I've installed all the S3TC textures from the CD to NaPali.

If UBerserker has S3TC crates in NaPali, how did he get them? OK, UBerserker, confess. You cheated and installed them on the sly. Just kidding. Is there some way I can pin this question down? Maybe DieHard can chime in. Let's hear it DieHard. Please?

GreatEmerald,

The Mine.utx (Package3) I have on a CD from here:

http://www.unrealtexture.com/Unreal...es/HighEnd/MasterFiles/MasterFilesHighEnd.htm

and have installed should be the same as the Mine textures in your reference , not?

I've double checked the installation and I've confirmed that my NaPali has the Mine.utx (63.4 MB) file installed from the above download site. Does this .utx package include the texture for the NaPali crate, the MMCRATE3 texture?

I'm a little confused. I'm still trying to figure this out. Thanks for the responses.

GreatEmerald,

I downloaded and installed the Mine texture from your references site. That texture fixed the crate problem I was having. The crates in NaPali now look like they should. Go, S3TC!

I wonder what went wrong with that texture I downloaded and saved to CD from my above indicated site. I downloaded and saved those when they first appeared, about a year ago. Makes me wonder whether some other textures aren't correct that I haven't noticed. I hate it when this happens.

Yeah, Leo, the files on the download site all have a date of March 7, 2010, and those are the ones I have on my backup CD. They're supposed to be the latest available. The site:

http://www.unrealtexture.com/Unreal...es/HighEnd/MasterFiles/MasterFilesHighEnd.htm

For some reason, the Mine.utx S3TC texture file from that site didn't fully install on my system. That file is 118 MB in size, but the installed size on my system was 97 MB, and that's the reason my crates in NaPali didn't reflect the S3TC texture. It simply displayed the old texture.

When I reinstalled the Mine.utx file of 118 MB, the crates showed the proper S3TC texture. I then looked at my Unreal texture file, which had the same file installed (from the sameCD), and the Mine.utx installed file was 107 MB in size. Go figure.

Even so, the crate texture in Unreal reflected the proper S3TC texture. Go figure. I don't know what that reduced size was doing wrong in Unreal, nothing that I could tell. When I saw that reduced size, I reinstalled the Mine.utx file in Unreal as well.

All the other S3TC textures seem to have installed properly, as best I can tell. It's hard to be sure, apart from noticing the crates in NaPali didn't look like S3TC because they are obvious. Stuff happens.

Its true that updates are slow due to my health.

To get to the crate textures. The crates were added in the 2008 Tiny Christmas release. And that release was only an update for those specific crate textures, hence the name Tiny Christmas release.

The so called procedural textures still cannot be updated due to lack of technology. And the crate with the water on it is such an example. In Nyleve when you beat the brute that throws the guy to you in front of the elevater that goes up. If you take that elevator than theres a crate with an assault vest on top of it. The top of that crate is a procedural texture, and that one is the orginal low resolution unfortunatelly.

I have the S3TC texture, but for technical reasons it cannot be added..... If i add the texture, it either gets marbled, complete red or complete black. In other words its useless.......

Still have to talk about that with Smirftsch to see if it can be solved in patch 227.

Diehard,

I hadn't noticed that just the top of that crate (you mention above) is the original Unreal texture. The rest of that same crate is S3TC texture.

I ran Unreal just to see for myself the top of that crate. Sure enough! Just the top is the original texture. I didn't know that.
