Computer Speakers turned into radio tuner for awhile

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Ok I was working away tonight when suddenly I start to hear a radio. After a second or so I realized it was coming from my centre speaker of my computer surround system. Very soft even full volume. Sounded shortwave. Made sure it wasn't some weird website I had openned by accident.

Then I remembered what an instructor told me a while ago. A coil of wire is another name for an anntenna. Don't have any of my wires coiled but probably enough to pick up something.

Edit: Damn. Wrong forum. Please move.
Thanks

Any length of unsheilded wire will act as an antenna. If its of the correct length then it'll pick up spmething and you'll hear if it's yer speaker wire. I quite often get the local taxi firm cutting into whatever I'm listening to on my comp. Mainly due to how close they are (about 50m away) and how badly shielded their antenna is.
