    Cityintro.unr - 1024x768 - High detail world & model
    ABIT BX6 v2|P3 650|W2K> AVG 46FPS
    SOYO Via 133|P3 650|W2K> AVG 35FPS (after system wipe)
    SOYO Via 133|P3 650|W98> AVG 38FPS

    Video: Voodoo3 3000 AGP
    Memory: 256MB CAS2 ECC RAM
    Sound: SBLive! Value (intro has sound too!)

    (650 o/c to 800)
    Abit BE6-II|P3 800|W98> AVG 55FPS, MIN 33.3FPS, MAX 99.55FPS (I believe Vsync stopped this one from going higher as my monitor refresh rate at 1024x768 is 100Hz)
    Abit BE6-II|P3 800|W98|o/c video (to 175) & no vsync> AVG 62FPS, MIN 39, MAX 113FPS
    Abit BE6-II|P3 800|W2K| AVG 50FPS, MIN 36FPS, MAX 75FPS

    It seems W2K doesn't really give you faster frame rates, but helps when the CPU would take a hit (rather than fill rate).

    just to show off;/

    high world/skin detail
    @640x480 - Min 21.14 Max 60.29 Avg 51.83 fps.
    @1024x768 - Min 30.82 Max 60.14 Avg 50.69 fps.

    with an athlon 650mhz, geforce ddr, 128mb ram.

    i think most of the reason the min is so much lower than the avg is 'cause i had to turn precache off, so it stuttered every once in a while.

    Thanks Darklite!

    Revised stats:

    same system as mentioned in my prervious post.

    Min = 33.32
    Max = 95.27
    Avg = 51.41

    BTW, I think running a level with lots of bots would be a better way of testing CPU performance. But that would be kind'a hard to set a "benchmark."

    Rooster...you are running a 3500 right? Those first numbers look low...
    With my 450/V3 2k I get 42 FPS with everything on at 10x7.

    Liz - actually, I was in a 16 player DM today, under W2K - and I got almost identical numbers (+/- 2FPS) as to my latest W2K Cityintro test.

    Sorry, Voodoo3 3000 AGP. Only overclocking done was in Win98.

    Bob, they're probably low cause I was runnin' it in Windows 2000 - as you can see from the bottom specs, W2K has a much lower top end, therefore lowering the average by about 10%. So.. guessing I would say Win98 UT at 650 would have been around 51FPS.

    This sounds closer to what you and I are thinking I believe.

    i've seen a "UTBench" timedemo that some hardware reviewers have used as a benchmark, but i'm not sure what it is (as in a cityintro type thing or a firefight). although every benchmark i've seen from it have been lower than i would've expected from the machine they tested it on, so i'm assuming its not a very realistic demo..

    if you want a realistic, yet somewhat intense demo.. i made one with 13 bots on DM-Liandri at http://members.xoom.com/darklite/ut/werddem.zip

    That's what I've seen from sharkbite.dem and utbench.dem - they are not really realistic for what you'd actually see. They're considerably lower.

    That's why I like the Cityintro - it's very accurate.

    I know there was a post, but how do I timedemo the intro again? I'll post results here as I'll do it tonight.

    If you've disabled your intro, here's the steps.

    Start UT (duh)
    Open console (~)
    enter timedemo 1
    enter start cityintro.unr
    close console if it's open
    let it run twice
    open console (~)
    Bottom entry in console will tell you the Minimum, Average and Maximum framerates.

    Va, the decals is where you get to see all the goo and good stuff. I had them turned off for a while (pre-upgrade), but will never do that again.

    I'll post my demo tonight.
