Changing weapons names

Does anyone know how to change the weapon names or the messages that appear on the screeen after you killed someone? Ive seen couple of movies or clips where people have changed the names of the weapons and the "You killed ......." they changed it to "You owned...." and for the weapons for the rockets launcher they named it [RL] and stuff like that so if anyone knows how to do this hit me up,

Yeah, I've known about this for a while, but I hadn't ever thought of changing them.

There are a few other .int files as well that might be of interest. I can't think of any off the top of my head though. Maybe XGame.int and Onslaught.int...

I have used what they have asked over at the other forum but nothing seems to be there that im looking for.

I can't change the weapon names that appear when you swtich weapons, only the weapons I pick up are the ones I edited.

Also how to change the string that comes up when you kill someone.
aka You killed (insert name here). I want to change that also and the part that says double kill, multi kill, mega kill, ultra kill etc...

If you guys can find and help me out I would really appreciate this. :D

The stuff you're looking to change is spread far & wide in the .INT files in your system folder. XWeapons.int is one for example.
Do yourself a favour & make backups of any files before you edit as some of the Spree messages for example, have multiple entries & only one of them is the in-game string, the others appear on the score/stats page & you'll throw the page alignment out if you edit the wrong ones ;)

scroll down till you see things like this

EDIT:
Also make sure you backup your .int files when patching. I forgot to back up mine and everything is back to default now.

I know that but i mean when you frag someone theres a line thta comes up at the top of the screen that says you killed %username% ive seen movies where people have edited theirs and i thought it would be cool. You know where that file is?

Also like you said earlier how you edited your weapon names. Where is that file to edit the names of weapons like you did?

Not sure but I think the way you modify weapon name in xweapons.int file is change the weapon name in quote after itemname=.

It's been awhile since I did it.
Also I haven't found the file or section where you change "you killed %username%" yet. Or atleast I forgot where I had seen it before.

The "Item Name=" bit is what changes the display name when you switch. The rest I would think to be self explanitory. There is also an INT for pickups, which I've inserted the respawn times for, much in the same fashion as the deemer in the above quote. The kill messages can be fun, though most of the game default ones are fun enough.

I changed the "item name=" to "." since I damn well know the weapons after all these years.

But can someone tell me if everytime you switch to a weapon and back, it says the name? Once I changed mine, it stopped saying the name on screen after the initial switch. I never noticed it doing that before.

Every time you use a switch weapon command, it displays what weapon you are going to switch to (limited naturally to what you have) on the screen, unless you have the balllauncher, or loaded goo, and then it will hold on the first successful switch.
