I heard in a review that Epic said with the new engine they can allow the environment to grow right in front of you. Like say if the "evil" team takes control of that area it's gonna be all like destroyed and stuff. It doesn't seem right to me because what if it's a major part of a match and the good and bad team keeps taking over it? The environments gonna go crazy. Seems weird to me.

I think it's safe to assume the effect will be subtle!

the changes will be more like color changes, dead grass, moss growth, decaying trees, nothing major

Hehe true, but in the heat of an intense match revolving a chokepoint, it would be quite unpleasent if that feature bereft me of the few fps my system managed to grind out every time the node/point was captured.

I think it would be a continuous change, therefore if it was going back and forth it's not like it would suddenly pop into being decayed.

It's surely dependant on how long you keep control of the point.

I think Brizz nailed it, subtle is the watchword for this one. I just hope they'll be more than one "terrain form" for each map. It'd be better than just live/dead (althought that would still be very cool).

I have problems now with lots of people and vehilces at one choke node in ONS, so needless to say, this game will require me to upgrade regardless, hence contemplating feature stress on my system at current is pretty futile.

Realistically speaking, I just know I'll have to upgrade, and will do it as excessively as my funds allow.

I'd say that this feature will be the least of the worries when it comes to actually being able to play the game.

Plus with a little luck there's a bit of a delay involved so you don't get the visual equivalent of the eternal repeating 'flag dropped' for contested areas.

From what i gathered it'll only happen, gradually, on areas of non-contention, say a Locked node in ONS for comparison. Will be pretty cool.

I think a lot of people asked for it in the current UT.
Also i tihnk it'll be very good to see what mappers do with such a thing, presumably there is now a nice fat trigger for detecting node changes and triggerable events can occur. It'll be interesting if people make maps with not so subtle effects for example when certain nodes that seem useless and offer no route to the enemy cores are taken will trigger explosions elsewhere or canyons to open, dropships to land goliaths in the middle etc etc. Mappers can do some crazy and amazingly fun things with such tools i'm sure.

they probably need a good 'node-trigger'-feature, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to make Conquest work (triggering team-specific 'missions' as nodes are captured).

It probably will result in plenty of objects that act like the scoreboards-thingies in DDOM.

I doubt that there will be radical changes or at least quick changes. Its probably done so that by the end of each match, if you look at a before and after picture of the map you would notice some changes, nothing big though. On the other hand trigger event ideas are cool!
