...because when it's 123 seconds past 1:00 AM tomorrow morning (yeah yeah lucky me I'm in PST), the time and date will be:

    01:02.03 04/05/06

It's lame, it's retarded, and it may have already happened in your location!

British/ European version is easier to read+say.
    eg. It's the 14th of the 3rd of 06

American version: 3rd of the 14th of 06 - it makes no sense when said like that.

k, but who says it like that anyway?

    I just say the numbers.

On the other hand, the American system can make sense if you think of how you would say a day of the month... assuming you say "June 3rd" or whatever... and not "the 3rd of June".
(Wouldn't "June 3rd" be easier anyway? It has less words)

Anyway, the system follows that logic - month then day.
    Deal with it.

(I guess in the end, it's all about what you're used to)

it's more logical to list from small increment to large increment (or the other way round) than dotting all over the place

well, grammatically, the third of June is correct, while June third is, well, not...
so I guess it fits well with the American language :p ;)

Grammar is a bit more flixible than that, and is very contextual.
A month is a time unit of 30 days (give or take a day) within a given year.
If you say June 3rd, you are referring to the third day of June, not the third "month" of June.

If you wanted to get technical, and we are looking at this OUT of context, where you seem to like to argue from... the third of June isn't grammatically correct. You haven't stated what the third is. is it the third bird of June? Is it the third penile implant of June?

Really, it's just a way to further simplify something already very mundane, so we can get on with other more interesting things.

The brits (and the rest of the world) are just jealous because we got our 123456 day before they did.

Anyways, it seems more like 123452006 day to me. What gives?
