Can't do anything with the editor!

I am trying a lot, but I can't even select a wall to skin it in the editor with the runtime.
I build a cube (as in tutorial) and then subtract it. But when I try selecting a wall nothing happens, I keep clicking air. I am really pissed now.
Also, I tried running DeusEx SDK which I used to work with when deus ex was released, and can't do the selection in it too.

What am I doing wrong??

Please help, I have to learn this editor for some upcoming projects :(

So you're trying to select a surface in the textured 3D view and it's not working? That's weird... especially weird that the DX editor doesn't do it either, since it and the version of UED that come with the Runtime are very, very distantly related.

What series of keystrokes / button presses are you using to do this exactly? Post a screenshot of the problem if you think it might help...

I follow this >

- Right click the cube icon and enter 512 for height and breadth
- Build it

- Subtract it and the green textured box appears in perpective viewport

- Move the Red builder box out of the way
- Move the view to the middle of the green box

Now after that, texture box displayes the default texture when the Ed opens. I can't use none of em on the green box. I can't select any wall of the green box so that I can apply texture. With no selection I mean it doesn't turn blue or indicates it is selected, and I can't fill the textures.

My system >
P-4 1.60 Ghz
640 MB PC-133 SDRAM
40 GB 7200 rpm hdd
Gigabyte radeon 9600 XT

I can run Warcraft editor and 3ds MAX without problem, so I must be doing something wrong.

HELP! :(

This probably isn't it, but back when I was working on an older version of the 2nd gen Unreal engine, I couldn't select anything in the 3D views when I had FSAA enabled. Maybe try fiddling with video card options? It might be that UED isn't even registering clicks in the 3D view. Just a wild guess.
