  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I just bought a new computer & Unreal Tournament on Saturday Nov. 27, 1999.
Abit BE6, Celeron 466, 64mb PC100 ram, Diamond TNT2 Ultra 32mb, Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI, Maxtor 15GB UDMA/66 @ 7200rpm, Win98 1st Edition.
UT installs perfectly well. When I try to run it, EVERYTIME it hangs at the Unreal Tournement Logo. When I Ctrl+Alt+Del, it says UT Not Responding.
I'm using DirectX 7 from Microsoft's site.
I've tried Detonator Drivers 353 and even the 362 for Athlon (saw a post that said these Athlon drivers will work on Celerons). They still didnt allow UT to work.
I've reinstalled UT numerous times.
Quake2 & 3 work perfectly fine.
I've tried D3D, OpenGL, Software mode, and Safe Mode. I cant get past the Unreal Tournement Rusty Metal Looking Logo. It just hangs there and Ctrl+Alt+Del always shows UT as "Not Responding".
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...
Thanks in advance to everyone that helps me (a fellow gamer) out....

Had same prob. Make sure you select D3D and launch the game. WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! and it will lauch. I am serious. If you 3 finger it it will show as (not responding) so wait. It might take 30-45 secs, or maybe even more.
How to fix that? Hmmmm! Could be a lot of things. The precaching process uses a lot of mem. Try adding another 64megs. Also the tnt2 takes some power. And the list goes on.
I've had that problem w/ 3 PC's . Even my Athlon 550 o/c to 700 w/ 256 RAM does that. (I have it down to 10-15 secs load time now), as well as a K63 450.
I guess UT uses a lot of system resources. Don't remember if you said you have the latest drivers, but make sure you use the Detonator form the NVidia site. Don't use the ones for the Athlon of course.
Hope this helps.
Frag HAPPY!

I don't recommend using the detonator drivers ..try the updated drivers for your card First..I found they worked the best..
too bad you skimpped on one of the most important components of your system RAM!! (128 mb would help tremendously)

.....also at the start ..disable your 3D hardware and sourround sound in adv/options/Audio..tweek it later once you are up and running.
