Ive just had ut2k4 delivered and ive installed it. i was under the impression that the dvd version came with tons of tutorials etc which is why i paid extra for it...mine has no tutorials in it.

Ive made the actual models of my...er...models, but left out the skeletons while i waited for ut2k4. What the hell am i supposed to do now? Ive read about something called upaint but cant find that anywhere, where do i get it? How do i actually get my models into the game? I remember reading about scripting etc. but i have no idea where to start. Id really appreciate an idiots guide on what i have to change/make to get my model into the game, any links to necessary utils would be great too.

Please help!

Well, if you got the original DVD version you should have two DVD´s, one playdisk and the one with the extras.
You can find Upaint on your playdisk, there should be a folder called cd6/extras.
But you can´t get models into the game with Upaint, you´ll need Milkshape .

You can try to do it by yourself or you´ll send your model to slaughterbremer@web.de and i´ll do it for you :)

Yeah, i found upaint. Id rather not send people my models coz ive got about ten done at the moment while i was waiting for the game to arrive from amazon...sending every model i ever do to someone is a bit...crap, id rather learn how to do it myself! :lol:

Im not a n00b to modding in general, just to the unreal series. What do i need to compile my model with etc? All the textures, or do they just sit in a folder with the model? What do i have to do script wise etc? I thought that buying the dvd would have the tuts with it but it turns out that the european version of the dvd is just the game...no bonus dvd which is pants if you ask me.

An example script would be sweet if someone could post one up and a step-by-step guide on what to do would be great. EG> 'Compile your model with blah blah blah...', 'then do this with the karma file thingy' etc.

I´m sure only the Special Edition comes with two DVD´s .On the second are the 3DBuzz-Tutorials.
The normal DVD-Version is with one DVD .

1.open Milkshape
2.import Unreal psk -> cd6/extras/skinart/meshes/
3.delete original mesh
4.import your model
5.assign vertexes to the bones
6.export psk
7.open unrealed
8.go to animations
9.import psk
10.open humanmale ->copy mesh properties and animation set
11.import textures into a new pack
12.save texture pack
13.add textures to model
14.save model as ukx
15.make a new textfile change .txt to .upl
16.insert
[Public]

Player=(DefaultName="YourModel",Race="YourRace",Mesh=YourModelukx.name,species=xGame.SPECIES_Bot,BodySkin=YourModelutx.texturename,FaceSkin=YourModelutx.texturename,Portrait=YourModelutx.texturename,,Sex=Male)

Excellent, nice one mate! Just what i was looking for. Ill let you know how i get on.

Btw, when you select that mr crow model a bloke shouts "its mr crow"...dont suppose you know how to do that so when i finish my models i can have custom sounds play when theyre selected?

1.open Unreal Editor
2.look for sounds
3.open "Annoncer_Names"
4.import your .wave (should sound similar to the others)
5.rename it to the name of your character
6.save

that´s all ;)

you should never touch any of the standard UT'03 / UT'04 packages ... unless you never play on-line.

Never mind that the announced names have been disabled for all models except 'Mr.Crow'.
