Got this game for Xmas, not too thrilled with it. It`s more like direct your guys to take out the other guys by flanking maneuvers rather then a true fps. It`s alot like Star Wars Republic Commando with less detail work. Another game where I look down and I have no feet!! How difficult can it be to give me some feet damn it!!!
Detail level could be a bit better, you can see like the hands hanging onto the guns seem abit rough, when you zoom the weapon goes blurry, spouting out orders gets repetitive, but other things are cool, like throw a grenade and the ground will show a divot where it exploded, but for the most part, the weapons are way under powered, and if you don`t follow their procedure of battle and try to flank the enemy yourself to take them out solo, your weapon doesn`t hardly scratch them, you need to hit them with sooo many rounds before they fall, it makes it not real fun to play. But i`m not giving up on it yet, after all, I did pick it out for the wife to give me, so I better play it for a bit. Screenshots of the game.....

According to the task manager, BIA also uses both CPU cores when playing, wonder why the FPS are below 50 some of the times then.

Overall I`d say the game is not worth the $50 premium they put on it right now, but in a couple weeks when the price drops, it would be a better buy, IMO anyway.

One thing i liked about age of empires 3 was the detail. if people are under a tree, they are in shade, or partial shade. And the shade looks pretty real. Like your grenades, cannon balls blow holes in the ground, or they make different splashes in the water.

Cannon balls (and other things) destroy structures. Pieces break off buildings and ships. They might flip and spin as they go to the ground or water. Masts break off ships and land in the water or on deck. Not only do big parts fall off buildings and ships, but tiny parts do, too. So when a cannon ball hits a ship, you'll see all these tiny splashes in the water along with big splashes. And the splashes seem to be all different sizes. The pieces will have smoke/dirt trails coming off them as they fly out. When a building is destroyed enough, it falls into a heap and there is a bunch of dust in the air for a few seconds. When a ship is finally destroyed, it might break in half and you'll see a foam of bubbles as is sinks, dust from the wood, and boards atop the water burning.

There's really too much detail to mention, and i'm playing this game on my 3.5 year old 2100. I don't even have the option to go to highest detail with some stuff, but it looks great the way it is. They even have ragdoll effects.

sounds like call of duty 2, qualthwar.

prophet, yeah man i dig. i'm curious to see if i'm able to run enemy territory: quake wars (yes, that's actually the title). if i am i'll prolly get it since enemy territory is one of my all time faves that i still play a bit. btw played some 2k4 tonight and owned on rachel's reconstruct level, big surprise since i played with a guy who usually runs most maps, then i played moai after that 1-1 and won 22-1 to the other single players 1-22 ... the only kill he got was when we informally agreed to have a lightning gun fight. well that's enough bragging, oo7mike let's play so you can humble me proper :)

COD2 is great too. Took me like three weeks to play through the single player when most games just take a few days. The SP has no heath regeneration, so it plays more like a war simulator then a game.

WW2 FPS have hit a plateu. they have done all they can do with todays computers.
COD2; they could have done more with the graphics.
honestly, they could have gotten away with bumping up the GFX to BF2 style.

For the game to be realistic, you’d think they have some healing aids. In war, people have med kits, and probably chew on cocaine leaves when available. I know a shot to the chest would send you to a field hospital, but a grazing shot to the arm could heal in a short period of time.

If you take 10 grazing shots that knock your health down to 75%, you should be able to heal those wounds. Soldiers fight on and heal with more damage in real life.

Agreed; we need more cocaine in our games.
Maybe that's the deal with the 'Nali healing fruit'..

But, agreed. The sending team mates about thing is fun for an hour or so, then you get sick of your weapon feeling like it fires chewing-gum.

I found another option in the game to clean up the looks a bit, it does look better.
But there are some real issues with the game, like the lighting is waaayyy overpowered in some spots, like standing next to a fire, or window and the light is so bright it bout drowns out your hands and weapon. Also, they have a splatter thing going on when you get hit, just like Republic Commandos, sept in that game it made sense cause you were wearing a visor, this game has no visor or glasses, so it looks like the splatter is just hanging in front of you.

the games i got tired of were games like Duke Nukem. Pretty much any game where you have to find the secret way to get out of the level and onto the next.

you'd kill off the enemy then spend the rest of your time trying to remember how to advance. Single player Unreal was the same way. The only fun i had was creating SP levels, but then i knew how to move to the next level.

BiA looks good, pretty much. I like how they did the graphics and stuff. However, I don't really like the idea of suppressive fire, and like you said it takes a TON of shots to kill enemy troops. One of the fun things about games like Call of Duty is that they were able to make you feel like you were with a team while making it simple to just draw raw carnage on the Germans. I don't feel that with BiA.

Looks like you have 'bloom' effect cranked up to the max in those screenshots Rukee (if it has that option?) + you might wanna think about knocking down the brightness settings, maybe gamma etc and just take it down a few notches to take the edge off it

50 fps? - that's pretty good for most people in games like this and I don't really notice the difference until it drops to mid 30's etc tbh
