The best gaming card on the market right now, as far as I know, is the ATI Radeon x800 Platinum. Beats the hell outta anything from Nvidia, and, supposedly twice as fast as the 9800. I want one. lol

I thought the new nVidia one was supposed to have laid waste to anything from ATI? Unless I read the wrong info...

This thread will soon be overrun with video card bashing :D

I use the ATIR 9700tx with those tv plugs. It isn't the best it still runs great and plays D3 well. I also use a 2.53p4 and a gig of ram.

Personally I'd always go with nVidia simply because I've worked for PC manufacturers in the past and ATI cards were always a curse with drivers causing problems/conflicts... I've stuck with nVidia and found them the most reliable of video cards (with great support). Also nVidia have been good to us Unreal ppl and loyalty is a good thing ;)

It is supposed to be but if you want the most power wait for the Alienware ALX X2 to come out and equip it with 2 6800s and then you can play D3 at maximum values since the ALXX2 divides the screen in half and renders it using 2 seperate cards allowing for some rather impressive quality. That is if you have about 7-10 grand to blow.

Oh yea I forgot you can use them in SLI mode. Two cards, one cable and it's da bomb! I used have two voodoo2s in SLI years ago and that rocked when HL came out... Must approach my bank manager soon as it's really a necessity :D

Klasnic I still recall that time I bought two for 220 us dollars and ran em in sli, those were the days. As far as everything I read the ATI is current king of the hill. ATI captured my heart after I got a steal on a ATI 7500 agp card and it has survived 2 systems of mine and all my infinite tweaking and silencing.

A local pc guru feels that ATI are terrible about drivers, instals et cetera. I personally have never had a problem with ATI - or its drivers, which alledgedly you can install one driver relaese pack for any card, real sweet when they release new drivers. I got the latest Doom3 drivers but keep forgeting to try them out, maybe that is a good thing eh?

I'm currently running the game on a P4 2.0Ghz, with 256 MB RAM DDR PC333, and a poor GeForceFX 5200 128 MB DDR. The runs perfectly at 60 fps at a normal quality but I will update my machine soon (with something that not requires a PCI Xpress slot and sell my uncle).

I reckon the best way to find out is to goto ATI website and then goto nVidia's. See what they reckon are their best and then read up on the tech info, etc... Then if you're buying an OEM one read the tech specs on them too as an OEM by one manufacturer could be much better than that of another even if they're using the same GPU - Oh that sounds sooo technical

Its seems that cards are now going pci express(thats what the new nvidia and ati cards are). X800 is said to lead the 6800 though I am unsure of any visible differences.

If you upgrade to an ATIR9800 it should be pretty cheap. Or you can go to my 9700 tx and hook up to a tv(I use a crt monitor though).
