Anyone who hasn't read The Wheel of Time series should give it a look. It's considered by many to be equal to The Lord of the Rings (some would even say it's better).

mmmmmmm

I really can't understand how someone can think that WoT is better than Lord Of The Rings. I hated the first few Wheel Of Time books. The writing wasn't anything special, the characters were kinda cliched and flat, and the plot didn't seem too impressive either. Then again, I only read about 1-2 of those books, so maybe the later ones are better.

Anyways, my TOP-5 books:

1.Eiji Yoshikawa-Musashi (the biography of the famous swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, who wrote the "Book of five rings" about the art of swordfighting)
2.Albert Camus-The Stranger (not only is this a great book, it's filled with interesting thoughts about the human nature too)
3.JRR Tolkien-Lord Of The Rings (best fantasy book ever)
4.Tom Clancy-Red Storm Rising (I dislike most Clancy books, but this one is good. Really good infact.)
5.George Orwell-1984 (I don't think I even have to bother explaining why this book totally owns)

I suppose it just depends on which series you read first. I read TWoT first, which is probably why I like it more.

if you like Marcinko, youd like:

Black Hawk Down by Marc Bowden
Inside the US Navy SEALs by Gary Stubbelfield
The Commandos by Doug Waller
Brave Men, Dark Waters by Orr Kelly
Combat Swimmer: Memoirs of Navy SEAL by Richard Gormley

Marcinko goes a bit over the top in Rogue Warrior, hes pure ego in that book, these others a bit more tempered and very insightful. Black Hawk Down is about the Rangers in Somalia and is singly the best and most informative book about modern warfare in existence. The Commandos deals with multiple units, but is also very well researched and informative. Enjoy

I like a lot of Poe's stories.

Two of my favorites that are also a couple of my favorite movies are One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and A Clockwork Orange.

Authors rather than titles

A bit hard to single out the titles here...
So I'll just put in some of the authors that I read.

Dale Brown (Flight of the Old Dog)
Tom Clancy (Red Storm Rising Hmm have the game for my old C-64 around here somewhere...)
Harold Coyle (The Ten Thousand)
Stephen Coonts (The Minotaur)
Stephen King (anyone need a title?)
Dean R Koontz (Watchers)
J R R Tolkien (again no titles needed)
Eiji Yoshikawa (Musashi)

And a whole bunch of others

Peace

Thanks CoffeeCan

Thanks for the info on the books similar to the Marcinko ones. Very helpful...I am never sure which books to choose. I am usually never sure which are accurate and are not "Hollywood-ised".
