Unfortunately it was all just a horrible mistake of the calendar. He thought that it was the midnight premier of the Justin Bieber movie.

I remember about 20 years ago I was watching some educational thing on TV and a woman from the CDC was being interviewed. It was about the future of the American youth and this woman was very frank. I clearly remember her saying that the current generation being born and raised would contain an unusual number of what she called "super predators" and that there would likely be disposed to violence on a scale that would shock people. Damn she was right. I'm gonna try to google that and see if I can find it.

Edit: Here's the guy that coined the term in the early 90's

His theory has been blasted to hell by critics but I think he saw something coming.

The shooting spree is tragic and moderately ironic. My sympathies go out to the families of the victims.

I find the Batman franchise to be rather mediocre and boring but as an avid comic book fan I know that Batman dies all the time in the comics only to pop back up later. Damn possum.

The casualties included a four-month-old baby, who was released from hospital after treatment, and a six-year-old child.

Not to be distracting but what's the age certificate on that movie again?

Sounds like a lot of obvious nonsense that didn't need a specialist to research to me.

Shit :(

Sounds like the "lone wolf" issue. The worst part is that it's virtually impossible to stop incidents like this. There's no agenda, there are no other perpetrators, no contacts, no indicators. Unless the authorities get lucky, no-one has any idea what's about to happen until it happens. :(

At least one person was injured by shots penetrating walls into other areas, so that could be the reason.

somewhere; sometime?
the scene of the crime is still not cleared.

10 of the 14 dead bodies are still inside theater #9 and the police are worried that unexploded booby traps are hidden around the building. bomb squads and robots are combing every inch of the place, including the suspects apartment.

eyewitness reports are still conflicted about whether or not the gunman was alone or had help. he was probably alone but the release of tear gas must have made everything very confusing.

There's definitely something that needs to change in America if fucked up people keep getting firearms that easily.

On topic: Batman should kill himself after hearing that Marvel want to make him gay.

How do you know if somebody is crazy or not? The guys worst offense was a parking ticket. He went to school and college like any other normal person. It's not exactly hard for a psychotic to blend in with society. That's the scary thing. This could happen to any one of us.

On a side note I saw the new Spiderman recently and somebody a few rows up bent down and lit a lighter. Scared the sh*t out of me but it turns out they were just looking for something in the dark. You don't do that in a crowded movie theater, EVER.

Wrong. There were probably at least 100 people (including police and lawyers) privy to the knowledge that this guy was fucked up in the head and did nothing to stop it. It happens all the time. People who's job is to protect people don't give a shit until people die now days.

What the crap is wrong with people :(

Yes. That is the question. :(

Could these type of incidents be stopped? It always seems to be the perpetrators who obtain guns through legal means who do this.

Limiting access to guns may be one place to start..........

.... I assume the vultures of the media will pull out the old "computer games are to blame" argument soon.

My sincere condolences to all those affected by yet another example of how fucked up society is.

Worst offense on record. Prosecutors lose stuff all the time. This guy could have gotten caught raping cats and cops would have to let him go after 24 hours with out an arrest warrant. Prosecutors aren't psychic so they need some sort of notification that this guy is nuts and that doesn't always happen on time or sometimes it never happens at all. Even if a warrant is issued after 24 hours there would actually have to be a motivated cop to go find him or we're all relying on dumb luck that a cop runs into him for a separate incident.

But hey, they're sure as shit going to get paid for that parking ticket. Anything that has potential fines being paid to the government will always get top priority.

I hate to point this out but there wasn't a lot of finger wagging when the cartel was slaughtering people multiple times these last couple of years. No one was crying 'gun control for Mexico!'

It's not the guns, it's the skyrocketing divorce rate and general decline in the fabric of society. Remove the guns completely and these assholes will just use poison, knives, their car, whatever. Fix the cause and not the tool.

My wife is a teacher. We live in a small town without major gang influence though there is quite a lot of drug use (as everywhere else I suppose). The kids in her class are a constant battle to keep under control. Your average middle-school kid is much more aggressive and mouthy than a generation ago. Now add in the persistent neutering of authority figures thanks to an out-of-control judicial system that forces less and less ability to deal with the 'problem kids' and you have a pot simmering to boil.

The reason these kids don't get identified clearly is because at nearly every step in the chain they are shoved forward because no one has the tools or time to properly deal with them. Try to flag a kid as dangerous and you are infringing on his 'civil rights'. Try to punish them for acting out and they blame you for not knowing how to deal with 'Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc', all the while the kid looks at you and laughs. Public schools are fucking insane, and the train is just now leaving the station.

Trying to mix in theism and religious doctrine only clouds the discussion.
