I've got exactly the same problems with virgin media, it used to be alright but now I get dialup speeds and constant packet loss (even just pinging stuff). It's supposed to be broadband but it is too slow for IRC

im on be broadband too, the speeds are good, but im synced at 19megabits instead of 24 and im less than a km from the exchange, and the contention ratio (and slowness of 90% of the internet) means the only time ill ever hit near max speed is at 4am on a bit torrent with two thousand seeds and no peers.
