bad name error.

This has only just started happening. A first in 2 years of gaming (I knew I shouldn't have told Karsten that UT2004 has never crashed on me) I get the following error every time I load up UT2004;

bad name index 18527/2158. This problem may have been caused by your computer overheating or a corrupt install; please reinstall if the problem persists.

3 reinstalls later and no dice.

A fresh install is fine, but once I apply the ECE and the patch, install unwheel and copy all of the files across it stops working. I'm going back now to try to see at which point the installation gets corrupted.

Btw. anybody know how to access the logs?

there wouldnt be a log that would store the name of the file that's causing it to crash would there?

hmmm .. check for logs in the "System" folder. Thats where all mine are. I cant say when UT2k4 calls it by defualt... should be something .log maybe? I manually name mine so im sorry I cant help you there Isn't there like a -debug command you can use when starting UT2k4 that also saves logs?

The bad file was the revised version of Faerie, it's a bugger but I'm gonna have to do it again.

Of course I am, I made the damn thing!

but mainly it was a warning to steve, shrimp and jerdaygo who have access to the updated file.
