Awards & Reinstalling.

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hey are the awards you get still there if I uninstall & reinstall(actually gonna install to a newer hard drive) and log into my profile? Oh and I haven't registered with steam. Are there any prerequisites like having to migrate my user profile in the save data folder? Anyone knows?

Talking about achievements, if you have custom content, do you still unlock them if you play maps online, in pure servers?
And how come achievements are stored in GameSpy, aren't they Steam Achievements?

He said he hasn't registered with Steam, so he's talking about the ones built into the game. (Blue Streak, Bio Hazard, Big Game Hunter, Rocket Scientist, etc.) Those ones are stored on Gamespy's servers.

The steam ones, obviously, won't work for him at all unless he steams his copy of UT3.

I would bet they are locally stored. When you go into view stats there is a minute or so of waiting until you get it from gamespy. With these achievements, they are up instantly. Just a guess of course.

But if they are stored locally and can be spoofed, what's the point? If I all of a sudden steam my copy using the methods to allow me not to download, and all of them transfer, it really exposes them as the gimmick they are.

All I know is Friends are stored locally. So when I reinstalled Windows all my friends went bye bye. No way of finding them anymore, don't remember their user name. :/ :(

Wild guess but awards suffer the same fate I think.

d3tox, what makes you think that if they're locally stored, they can be spoofed? You can encrypt local drives and they will be unspoofable, unless you try to decode them the whole decade. If achievements are synced with the server, they are probably sent coded, even up to MD5, and there's no way you can decode that.
And I think that if you have Steam, they are synchronised, because Steam community pages on the Internet update your achievements.

I'm pretty sure that if you aren't linked to your Steam account they are stored locally. Where else would they store them? The achievements are normally stored on Steam, so they would be persistent in that case.
