Anyone taken the EDPT?

I took the ASVAB and got 99.

When? They revised the scoring system last summer, resulting in changes to peoples scores. Before, I had a QT of 99, but it has since gone down to 97.

My line scores before(03D) and after(03E).
M:96-98
A:97-95
G:99-97
E:99-99
QT:99-97

My sister had a 98 QT, and it went down to 96 or 95.

You wouldn't have taken the EDPT unless you actualy swore in and then found that the test required it, but as you are planning to go in as combat control (correct me if I'm wrong on that) you need not take any special test apart from PAST, which is a physical fitness test. Hell, you only need a general line score of 44 to get into this position.

At anyrate, congrats on the 99.

I got like a 120 or something on the ASVAB. I was surprised to know that the marine corps has higher asvab scores than all other branches excepts the airforce wich are even..at least then. It was a freakin retard test

I took it a few weeks ago, so my score is current. All that's left for me to pass is the flight physical and the PAST test.

Here's where I'm at with the PAST:
Event -------- Score to Pass ------- My Score
500m swim---- 15:00 min ------------ 11:13
Chin-ups------- 6 --------------------- 4
Sit-ups -------- 50 -------------------- 64
Push-ups ------ 42 -------------------- 37
1.5 Mile Run --- 11:30 min ----------- 9:11

Doing the chin-ups and pull-ups is tough right after the swim, but another couple weeks of working out and I'll pick up those couple of pull-ups and push-ups.

If anyone is thinking Combat Control? What's that? They are Air Force special ops guys that work with STT, SEALS, Rangers, Army SF, etc and act as the air to ground interface. Neat recruiting video about them: http://www.sgtmacsbar.com/CCTVideo.mpg

A 99 is the highest possible on the ASVAB. I believe you are talking about your line scores. Line scores are calculated differently by the branches. My Army lines scores were about 140.

Also, the required minimums for the branches are as follows:
Air Force: 40
Coast Guard: 40
Navy: 35
Marines: 32
Army: 31

The ASVAB is standardized so that a score of 50 is average, meaning you scored better than 50 percent of those who took it for the sample data.

Sorry to be the lame Euro again, but this video is quite pathetic IMHO. This goes along with luring people into the army for the (IMO) wrong reasons.

Those who just join for an entertaining adventure are the ones who are more likely to loose up morality once it's getting boring...

Basically telling young recruits the service is gonna be a wild party is failing responsibility... sorry for getting OT

What were you expecting, an oscar winner? It's just a recruiting video! And it's not the Army, it's the Air Force.

Those who just join for an entertaining adventure are the ones who are more likely to loose up morality once it's getting boring...
I don't agree at all. Why would you think that? You think the abusive prison guards joined the military to shoot guns, do HALO jumps, and RAMZ build-ups? Then when they didn't get to do those, they abused prisoners instead? That doesn't make any sense.

Basically telling young recruits the service is gonna be a wild party is failing responsibility... sorry for getting OT
No were did they allude to it being a wild party. The things in the video are ALL things CCT's do on a regular basis. The main thing left out was all the classroom work to get qualified in air-traffic control, but that wouldn't make a good video.

Well the whole video reminded me of that 'Beavies & Butthead @ the Recruting center' episode. (Butthead:'har har, heavy metall ... the Army is cool' Beavis: 'Fire, fire har har oh yeah hrg they rock!')

If you make the 'job' look like lots of action (parachuting, boat riding etc.) but omit the fact that it's basically about using force at the will of your president/general (no matter what your personal opinion might be) I'd call this seducing or propaganda.

Along with the military not beeing very picky on mental conditions of potential recruits nor their motivation to join in... things like in Abu Ghraib are more likely to happen. If you had smart and moraly stable soldiers in that prison, do you think this would have happend?

This is not much different to giving free whiskey to everybody willing to sign up (it worked 'well' for centuries - you'll certainly find an AA in need)

I'm aware this is common and you certainly won't get lots of volunters when showing piles of bodybags. Nervertheless these videos are real greasy.

Some much OT... no need to reiterate those basic discussions (Crackwhore made a pretty good and complete post on recruiting in the other thread)... I just don't agree the video is 'neat'. ;)

P.S. I'm using 'army' as synonym for 'military'

What can you say? America needs cannon fodder! Iraq or bust! You'll have fun, You'll have fun! Don't pay any attention to those body bags.

If not for morally unstable people on the other end of things, or higher up in our government, do you think we'd even be in this situation?

But yes, of course it's propaganda. Seriously, who wants to join an organization that puts you in the direct path of other peoples' bullets? I've got my reasons. As I'm sure everyone else joining does as well.
