Translation: "Pardon us while we fellate ourselves."

No. Cheating in a video game is not illegal. If it becomes so, I will seriously leave the country.

However, I'm not a part of that community, so I don't know exactly what has gone down recently. It sounds like something big happened, though I know how overblown the issue of cheating is with the majority of FPS based communities. If these cheaters have somehow managed to infiltrate the databases containing AA account info and then used that info for fraud of some sort, then sure, they're doing something illegal. But I'm fairly certain it'll be a cold day in Hades before anyone is arrested for using a wall hack.

    Yeah. Fucking. Right.

I bet the "bad guys" are so fucking scared.

    America - **** Yeah!

Wow. That was an entertaining article. Thank you sir. Sometimes, you can't help but just feel all warm inside, knowing that your government says things like that to 'online gamers' (probably between the ages of thirteen to eighteen years old) of all people...

I hope there's a case for this kind of thing before I'd die. 'Boy caught using 'WALLHAX' against virtual U.S. Ranger - sentenced to death for Treason and First Degree virtual manslaughter.' I'd be on the legal council for those kids, free of charge - just to get a front row seat. After it was all over, I would probably leave the country for good - with a smile on my face.

On a side note, in the 1980's, Japan learned an even more important lesson: Pay back the sleeping giant by stealing his automotive (and technological) economy from under his feet.

Of course, I still think we kinda 'one-upped' them with (what I consider to be) one of the greatest terrorist acts ever committed in the history of mankind. Either way - GO JOE!

Meh. I hope that guy realizes he just made the "haxorz" ten times hornier to cheat. Not only are they "leet" in AA they just discovered they're "hacking" government computers and defying not only the newb in kentucky they just head shot but every law enforcement agency serving the good ol' Red White and Blue.

    Good strategy Phil.

What next? threats of elite counter cyber terrorist squads raiding your home when you hillbug?
How about they freeze your financial assets when you spawnkill?

The could melt that implant they have in your brain with a ray from a top secret satellite when you TK a teammember...

Or maybe when you ghost, they deport you to a 3rd world country, like Canada {jk Canadians} :D

Is it 1984 yet? Big Brotha and all :p

BTW Didnt EPIC develop the engine thats on? kinda hard to illegally hack the gub'ment 'puters when the propriatory software is open source aint it?

Then again, im sure the US ARMY thinks Osama is behind the wallhacking, or Saddams Cousins Brothers Uncles Sister is programming our homeland computers for terrorist means now :p

LMFAO @ that utter load of total BS

I find this kind of statement particularly appalling :

Yeah good metaphor. That's exactly the same thing. Cheating in AA will have repercussion on the world's geopolitical situation for the 50 years to come.
I also like their constant use of the word 'bad guys', classic use of semantics to help the average joe visualize the evil. AA must the only game where the devs are enough of a reason not to play.

Damn, this guy made me wanna cheat.

eh, to be honest... i say go for it. It's their game, they made it, and if they wanna smash some skulls in, i'm all for it. God knows if you made a business, and some group of people were dilerbatly trying to ruin your service you'd wanna F' them up.

I'm all for freedom and being able to enjoy a game as how you like it, but mulitplayer is about playing with other people. It's like poker.

You can play with your friends with whatever little rules and handicaps you make up for yourselves, but you can't expect to go to a casino, or a real game and use your marked deck and not get thrown out.. beatup, sued, or just plain old fashioned "dead". Once you start playing with other people it's a different set of rules..

Yeah, shoot cheaters in videogames on sight. That's reasonable.

I found the part about Japan a very poor choice of words. Are Americans proud of that act, from my experience they are not, but this guy...

So basicly the game creators are saying - "We may have a huge budget, but due to our lack of technical ability, we still cant stop cheating. So instead, we'll try to scare everyone!!"..

I have to say I haven't found anyone in real life who's proud of that (though some disturbingly in favor of it). I also haven't been to the South, so I can't really say much for half of the country that doesn't mind keeping segregation laws on the books in 2004 even though federal law overruled that long ago.

Usually, I can write this crap off as just another internet nutcase, but this guy is a designer. He isn't some ******* kid on the AA forums. That's something new.

    I don't think F.D.R. was a marine...

A gimp maybe - but a marine he was not...

I really doubt most cheaters are trying to ruin anything for anybody. They are simply trying to have some fun via an unfair advantage. Sure, it's not nice, but that doesn't mean they're just a bunch of anti-socials hell-bent on destroying fun.

I agree, but the fact that shady Vegas casino owners do it doesn't make it right or desireable, so their actions shouldn't be enthusiastically taken. Also, these devs aren't doing this for the money. Well, they are, but they get paid by the Army regardless of how well the game does; it's not like this cheating is decreasing sales.

And I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I don't believe this cheating problem, as recounted by the typical FPS forum goer, exists. I'm positive that people cheat, but the idea that "OMG evryones doin it i cant have ne more fun wit this game to many cheetors!!1" is ridiculous. I started playing Raven Shield at its inception and have had fun doing so ever since. Even when the cheating problem got "real bad," before Punk Buster stepped in, I didn't notice any increase whatsoever in deaths I felt to be illegitimate. It's been the same thing with Counter Strike and every other multiplayer FPS I've played.

Also, I've played Raven Shield using cheats (OMG, Ive got teh gamer leprosy!!1) and I can attest that they just weren't that good. Sure, it gave me an unfair advantage, but it wasn't nearly fantastic enough to make all those "stoopid losrs cheetors wth no skillz" the unstoppable force most forum goers make those cheaters out to be.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The first so called cyber punk arrested for tempering with sensitive US army proprietary software was found guilty of various charges going from illegal use of protected software to espionage.

The 14 year old man faces a minimum of 25 years in prison. The common use of a exploit known as hillbugging by the cyber punk should encourage maximum penalty for the charges related to illegal use of federal software.

Anyway, I'm gald that foggy piece of crap isn't called Canada's army or Germany's army. I would have considering moving south and forgetting about my other nationality. Then again, I'm not suprised that it's called america's army, and I'm even less surprised by the article. I have to add that I'm also not very impressed.

BTW, all i could read was the quoted text... I don't plan on registering.

Who posted this? an official developper or some poor smartass?

BTW I just saw this on AA's website...lol

euh wth? I'm not quite sure how the M82 replaced the M24... I guess one could also drop his remington 700 and pick up some M82 to go deer hunting...

EDIT: ok I just have to post about the funny stuff I see on that site...

No ****! We should be glad America's army ain't using something like the FAL then...

    EDIT2:

Just like SCO is trying to make profit these days... "We may have had huge budget in the past, but due to our lack of brain, we still can't make money. So instead, we'll try to scare everyone!!"..

lol i just read that great advice on AA site :[HA]Recon Alpha
"When using your aiming device, always keep it in the location where you think OPFOR will be. (IE: doorways, certain areas of hallways, at the edge of corners.) If your aiming point is in the right position then you have the advantage when the OPFOR suddenly appears at that location. All you need to do is shoot the OPFOR instead of moving your aim point to his location and then shooting."
