After Wp1.2 the question is: Any ETA on new RT?

Sooo, geo and UN17, how´s the project going? The flashlight corona and breakble glasses are also going to be embebed in the next RT release? it would be nice if it also featured the bleeding factor of SWNM (that no server can use cause it crashes the game online, but it works perfectly offline...) at least...
But more importantly: any ETA on RT release? We´re all curisous and it´s been months since the last update and I wouldn´t mind at all to play it even in an early beta stage... exceptif its still annoyingly buggy... :eek:
I know its a very bold upgrade on RT (all these new coding and stuff), and don´t mean to rush u guys, but just wanna know how far is the progress of this muttie... thanx for the attention...;)

Ran into a major problem with the server in UT being texture blind. This means anything having to do with bullets affecting materials will work only offline, or very laggy online. So, the only thing you'll probably see in the next RT, if there is a next RT, is improved hit detection & damage effects (bleeding, locational damage, concussion effects, blackouts).

Yeah... well, as it stands now, I have to remove 80% of all the work that has been done on RT in the past months... because it simply does not work.

It has very important concequences for the future works on RT because most of them where based on that 80% previous work. If that doesn't work, I can't go forward with what I had planned.

So basically RT will drop all ballistic improvement and penetration improvements. Probably decal stay as well. I will have to chat with UN more on this one.

Also, because of lack of time (especially with my current implication in the ILCR organisation) I was looking for beta testers read to dedicate some time to RT to identify hitzone locations for various stence/movements. It's somewhat dirty work, and probably for that reason I got absolutely no replies to my requests.

Oooooohhh, only this quite good, already! (bleeding would be included, thats nice)
but what do you mean by "If there is a next RT"???? :eek:
i hope you guys can finish at least a public beta...

Damn... the UT engine can´t handle all those improvements??? i was so excited w all these possibilities... well, if you want more beta testers, I can volunteercause I used to test hit locations in bots since the first versions... for free, ehhehe
just to let you guys know, I play w the RT hit location text enabled (so I can see where every bullet i shoot or a bot shoot at me, hit... just like my cyberpunk pen&paper RPG...{;)

I gottit... just like a pen&paper RPg i ve edited in college and lasted 3 months to be finally published.. It almost was scrapped... but in the end it worked, being published by a smaller but faithfull press company...

Well, I hope at least an upgraded version of RT will be released, notas boldas youguys planned, but betterthen the current... but if that worked, itwould be awesome...[=)

Well it's not that the UT engine can't handle them.... on the contrary!... but only one little stupid feature kills it all...

The native function AttachDecal returns None on dedicated servers instead of returning the decal texture as it does in other netmodes... If you find a workaround to this, RT will be quite closer to a release than you think!

But UN said that Attachdecal only works offline (sort of that), so could this version of RT work funcionally offline, at least? i know that wasn´t the purpose, butat least it could have some use... many Inf players, just like me, play 70% to more of their time Offline INF... you guys could release 2 RT version: one online and other offline (w all features)
Wht do u think? All those endlesshours wouldn´t be spared meaninglessly!{;)

OMG!!!!{8| I didn´t meaned that! (I suck at math and I have no clue in coding, I didn´t imagined that it would require double work... I´m a designer...and used to cut and paste, but I guess it doesn´t work taht way in coding...[;)
i´m just trying to help, but if i´m tripping, just ignore theseideas, hehehe
I really hope those guys find a way out for RT! As I said, I have faith in you guys! {=D

Wow, those UTPG people sound like they can really do stuff. If they have the power to change a Native function like AttachDecal, that would be insane! They look like they have the "know-how" to edit .dll and core files that Ued has no access to. I hope they can suggest something for us. Good thinking Geogob. Didn't know they existed :)

I am suprise that some people do not know about utpq.org. That is where UT451 [and others after 436] came from. I thought for sure I suggested to Geo to contact them some time back. Perhaps I just thought about it....
