hello
i know I have seen other posts describing this problem in the past, but never figured out how to fix...when i go into advanced options, the advanced options menu is "behind" the fullscreen main menu. Therefore i can't access any of the advanced options and have to blindly click around the screen to close the adv options menu. i am using d3d with patch 224 (return to na pali actually) on a geforce. btw, i had this same problem with 225f in the past with my old tnt1. any ideas?

I have a geforce card running on a PIII 500 with 128mb RAM. I have been using the card in openGL and while this looks totally awesome, the framerate is not too great (I am running at 800 * 600 with the default settings and original creative drivers) I heard D3D is the way to go with unreal so I changed the drivers and lo and behold all the special effects dissappeared. While this did speed up the framerate, I did not buy a state of the art video card to play a game with the eyecandy turned off. I tried to access the advanced options and had a similar problem as you. I got around it by starting unreal in safe mode and changing back to openGL from there. One thing I have noticed that whenever there is some water or lava in the screen, the framerate drops dramatically it does not matter if you are right up close and staring into it or half a mile away, the effect is the same. If you are interested, it would be good if we could get in touch and compare timedemos, framerates and settings and get an idea of just how good these things are.

I was using open gl with my cheapo generic tnt2 because of the glitches with the graphics you mention on d3d, but i've just gone from win95 to win 98 and that solved all the problems with d3d.
celeron 466@525
sparkle tnt2 core 150, mem 150
128mb ram
i get 43fps at 600 800 in d3d with all graphics settings on max, it rocks.
