A thought about gays

I've noticed that many times when some people on the forum wish to ridicule someone or insult them they call them 'fag' or 'gay'.

Now I'm a heterosexual who is not particularly supportive of the politics of the gay community, but it puzzles me why some of you choose gayness as an insult.

Several years ago I dated this chick named Shannon who was a waitress at a trendy resturant. Now all the waiters and the bartenders where she worked were gay, and they were all her friends. So we spent a lot of time hanging out with a bunch of gay guys. There were some advantages. One was that we were always on the 'A' list at the coolest clubs (where I live there are 2 kinds of dance clubs, gay clubs and gang-banger clubs. I'm not much of a Hip Hop fan and those clubs aren't too friendly to us white folk anyway).

One of the bartenders was this guy named Brian. Now one evening a whole bunch of us (several gays and several hetero couples) were coming out of a local club (after a dragqueen cabaret, it was a hoot, if you get a chance to go to one they're quite entertaining), and in the parking lot were a handful of rednecks, who were kicking the shit out of this little drag queen (I think his name was Jovan). Well Brian tells them to stop, and one of them says "Oooh... I'm so scared... the faggot want's me to stop" at which point Brian punched the guy in the throat and he dropped, next he proceeded to finish off the other 3 rednecks in about 15 seconds (breaking an arm on one and a femur on another) then the cops showed up (don't worry, he didn't get in any trouble).

So what's my point with this little story?

Well basicaly it's this, you use 'fag' and 'gay' to try to make your target into less of a man, and frankly the baddest man I ever met was a gay man named Brian.

Well I don't know any gay guys, and I don't care for them, the rights thing is too fucking hard on my damn head to follow. I have nothing wrong with Gay people unless they hit on me. From what I hear they won't unless you broadcast that you are a flammer. For some reason "Fag" is a kick ass insult in some peoples minds. But I don't know why. I won't say that I never say it. I developped it over time with the social normality of homophobics. But I do try my best not to say it to offend someone, for example I might spill a drink and say "Well thats gay" and get another. But its the same as people calling blacks "Niggers", Calling Jews "Kikes" and so on. Its just something that people say to make themselves feel higher up in the social ladder. That is gay. i think there are two types of homosexuals, theres the very normal couldn't pick them in a crowd type, such as the ppl ur talking about.

Then you get your really extravagant ones who go over the top with it all and act really feminine.

I dont mind either of them, its when they're only "gay when its convenient" that bugs me, for example, (i'll use the analogy of a disabled person but i'm in no way implying that gays are disabled in anyway..except for disabled gays)

A disabled man will complain to a shopping centre or something similar coz theres no ramps for his cahir, no worries have ramps put in... 6 months later they have a law suit for discriminating against another disabled gyu/girl on the grounds that he/she was treated differently from everyone else..million dollar pay out, thank u very much bill of rights....

ok now your saying wots this got to do with gays ?? plenty of times i've treated a gay man the same as i would anyone else, and they've taken offence, ok i make a mental note, next time u treat the differently from the last time, they take offence, many times has someone cashed in on this.. its all well and good to want equal rights but when they get their equal rights they complain because their treated the same as everyone else... cant win, dont try... ok u can go back to sleep now

It wasn't an insult to anyone.

It was more of a remark to say that its not something that you should be joking about. Seriously, Jews are great, to be honest, I was baptised as a jew when I was born, my mother was apparently a jew and same deal with my father. and I was at one time. I have tonnes of respect for them, the only difference between me and a jew is that I believe in Jesus Christ and they dont.. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion towards what they like, dislike, believe, hate, love etc... Gays choose to love other men, jews choose to have different beliefs. Whats your problem again?

i think the software has been on the fritz recently and it's randomly deleting certain posts... either that or some of the moderators are getting bored /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
