3DNOW AGP Accelerator

I just got a Valusbox K-6 AMD 475 computer that is supposed to have a 16 meg AGP 3-D accelerator with 3DNOW technology. Problem is, all my 3-d games run like crap. Unreal is actually slower than it is on my P II 233, both running in software mode. Does this thing actually count as a 3-D accelerator? Do I have to download some kind of driver or something?

Is it really a 16 bit card?
anyway... I'm just gonna take a shot but, did you check the sound options?
make sure that you disabled the a3d hardware in the UT options sound menu as this makes the frames drop hard.
