I know this never goes anywhere, but what the hell.

Anybody want to 1v1 sometime? I love UT3. I love 1v1. I really really love 1v1 in UT3. Sadly my enjoyment of the aforementioned has been tragically cut short by the lack of anybody playing anymore.

But I do still have the resource of asking people specifically to come play sometime. So.....?

I'll be around tonight, tomorrow night, and then not again til next week due to Thanksgiving.

Do people actually play?

I have a problem with sitting around in irc for 45 minutes waiting for a game. It's the reason I stopped pugging.

I'd do it if you could figure out why my UT3 irreparably broke.

I play a reasonable bit - but never 1v1. I don't feel UT3's gameplay is up to that. Much preferred UT2004 for 1v1 (played that almost exclusively). UT3 is more of a DM game for me, although I also play CtF and Warfare.

I've won 1v1s with a big ping disadvantage too, but with two people who really know how to play it does make a significant difference.

One of the later versions of UT3's primitive UTcomp-like mutator had a semi functional form of newnet. I don't know how it has evolved since then.

Ima check back in this thread next week. Anybody who's serious about wanting to play should post their times of availability.

1vs1 in UT3 was probably one of the best gaming experiences I've had. It would have been a lot better if it wasn't only my clan 1vs1ing at the time. I'm not sure how it is now though. Most of the people that seem to be 1vs1ing now weren't 1v1 earlier in UT3's life.

I don't like 1v1. People tend to play kind of, how shall I say this, defensive in 1v1. Chasing an enemy who is running away and backpedaling all the time isn't fun, and doing it myself is not my style.

Whatever, I'm probably still kind of, uh, traumatized from a 1v1 tournament at a LAN party (in February 2008, when UT3 was still fairly new and popular), where I got my ass whooped. But I've always disliked 1v1, also in Quake3 and UT1999.

Although 1v1 in instagib can be pretty cool in such maps as Morbias.

Chasing the guy isn't the best idea anyways. You will just run into a shock combo as soon as you go around the corner :)
