GameSpot has word that a Delaware bankruptcy court judge approved the proposed sale of Midway Games to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for $33 million. Additionally, the judge has waived the usual 10-day waiting period for such a sale, so "[it] should close in short order".

The acquisition will give Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment most of Midway's assets, including the Mortal Kombat and Wheelman franchises. The offer does not include Midway's Newcastle (UK) and San Diego studios, nor the TNA Impact wrestling license. Earlier this month, Midway's Newcastle studio revealed its all-new IP, Necessary Force, in an effort to attract a buyer.

What Mortal Kombat vs. DC would have been like if the game was finished after Midway was sold to Warner Bros:

I'm pretty sure that's what would be construed as a Monopoly (and no, not the board game), which, last time I checked, are illegal...

...but damned if we don't get super awesome robots with it!!

...and who's gonna stop these mega corporations? The government? Haha, not while they're infiltrated by the Illuminati.

Too bad the U/UT franchise wasn't part of the deal... ...wouldn't hurt to be able to put it into hands of people with fresh ideas.

Northrawn, you do know that Midway is just the publisher for UT, right? They don't own the IP or develop the title.

yes... ...I know.

Before that it was Atari (as part of Infogrames, hence the name INA where we all were told to go back to) and before that GTI.
I even gave informations to the devs who stayed at home (just for fun and the sake of it) when I saw Jeff Morris presenting UT3 for the first time live in Europe at the Midway booth just after they changed publisher how their booth compared to the Atari booth a few meters further down.

It still would have been good if the IP was with the publisher and now sold to people with fresh ideas. :p
