Damnation Goes Retail

If you paid attention to the Make Something Unreal Contest back in 2005, you probably remember a mod called Damnation that made waves. It was a third person shooter and action platformer with a clever blend of steampunk, fantasy, and Western themes.

Well, it looks like it caught the eyes of the guys at Codemasters and it's well into full retail production! The game now utilizes Unreal Engine 3 - and looks quite impressive as you can see from the shots below. It will be headed to PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 for Winter 2008.

This one came across our desks a few days ago, so thanks to everyone that sent in the news. We simply wanted to confirm that this was still an Unreal Engine project. So... consider it confirmed.

I do remember something about this mod, don't think I ever played it though. Another UT2004 mod that is being made into a full game now is Alien Swarm. It's using the Source engine now though.

I remember the mod being fun to play. The female model here is superb, and here's hoping that the model in the game looks even remotely similar.

looks interesting. i completely missed that mod, though. hope it's still downloadable somewhere and hasn't been taken offline due to going retail.
while i do agree that the girl's costume is indeed over the top (in an inverted kind of way :B ) i think there's no problem there. we've already seen more ridiculous/exaggerated models. *cough*beach volleyball*cough*

Cool! I once checked out the mod, but my computer I had at the time was so slow it took a good 15 minutes just to load the first level, and once finnished loading, the game froze after I took 5 steps.

Always thought it looked interesting though, I'll definitly keep an out out for this one. :)

Pretty impressive.

Not complaining about the chick as I saw many more worse outfits. But the guy's hat is just out of place in my opinion.

I like the colours in the concept art :tup:

When I played the original mod, I always wondered why no publisher picked this team up.
The UT2k4 mod was of retail quality with the exception of a few minor bugs. Also it used spirit walk before Prey did.
