Just a couple water drop tests that I did with the motion detection feature of CHDK.

In school, off the drama hall in the closet. It’s a candid really explaining her lack of direct eye contact.

Just got back from a week in the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye. Stunning places, photographic nirvana, and I can't wait to go back.

It's ages since I've been out shooting landscapes, weddings seem to be taking precedent at the moment, and I'd forgotten how much I love being out for sunrise waiting for the light.

Anyway, I'm just going through the files and here are a couple that I'm happy with so far.

Rannoch Moor reflections. Feet and tripod in the water for this one.


One of the thousands of cascades flowing down the mountains in Glen Coe. Once again, standing in the stream in wellington boots, tripod in the water as well with the camera about 15 centimeters above the stream.


Sunrise beams above the Wester Ross. Taken from the Quiraing on the Trotternish Penisula on Skye with a 400mm lens.

BTW: Do you actually shoot with a polaroid camera or do you just shoop the frame in for decoration?

My guess is that he uses frames, as polaroids don't give a DOF. I could be wrong though!

I was wondering if anybody here knows something about converter rings. My mom has an old Olympus OM-2 and with it a lot of lenses. Would it be possible to use those lenses on my Canon 1000D somehow? They are bit heavy, but it would be cool.

Short Answer... no

Long answer.. possible to do but it will turn them into really awful macro lenses.. but you can use your canon lenses on the Olympus OM-2 to a limited degree.

Here is why. The distance from the film to the lens rear element of the Olympus is relatively short. This is a distance which must be kept in order to maintain infinity focus.. or rather the ability to focus on objects greater than a few feet away.

Canon lenses are engineered to have a greater distance away from the digital sensor. Because of this you can purchase adapters for the Olympus to adapt to the canon lens. You will loose auto focus and F stop control completely. Honestly.. its not worth it.

Neither distance method is better than the other in practice. It does however make the Olympus more adaptable to a greater verity of lenses out there. Canon bodies can lens adapt Nikon, Leica, Pentax, and a few other lenses while the Micro Four Thirds Olympus EP-1 can adapt pretty much everything ever made. This makes this camera very attractive to users who like exotic glass.

Lenses have changed over the years. The image quality is so much higher because digital demands it. For example: Your Canon kit lens is several times sharper, has greater contrast, and provides lower Chromatic aberrations than any of the Olympus lenses you may have. If you where ever to mount the Olympus lens on a digital Olympus camera you would see just how soft the older lenses really are.

Aha, ok then Mike, thanks for the long answer. I guess it makes sense that the lenses back then weren't that good, considering the usual photo sizes (postcard).

I'll just have to buy some newer lenses

I was going through a bunch of my pics today and had almost forgotten about this one I had taken at the aquarium in Vancouver. I likes it.
