I am wondering whether it really exists? There are many near-death experience reports, many of them describe a vision of a tunnel leading into a bright light.

But is it just the lack of oxygen in your brain during your last minutes creating this image? Do the dying photoreceptor cells in your retina, firing the last signals, cause the infamous light tunnel or is there perhaps more? A possible afterlife, another level of existence?

What purpose would an afterlife serve and if there was one, would you be able to end it?

Could you commit suicide in your afterlife and would you end up again in an another afterlife? Like in that movie Inception, would you just end a dream within a dream?

somewhere; sometime?
serious post is about to get serious...

basically yes and yes.

when you're dying, the brain floods your body with euphoria-inducing drugs like DMT and other naturally occurring hallucinogens. this is both a defense mechanism (to ease whatever fear and/or pain you may be experiencing) and the invariable reaction of a biologic organism in its final throes.

a lot of people assume that what they are seeing must be the afterlife or something. it's not.
I am wondering whether it really exists?
whether what really exists?
the afterlife in general? or some specific version (like heaven, Nirvana, etc)?

the thing is Poly, nobody knows.
NO ONE knows.
NO ONE has EVER known. ever.
NO ONE will EVER know. ever.

the only people that find out are dead. and you won't be hearing from them.
anyone who claims to know is full of sh*t and you should be extremely wary of their intentions.
What purpose would an afterlife serve and if there was one, would you be able to end it?
purpose?
there's no purpose.

being dead is part of life. it's just another phase in the cycle.
and what do you mean by "end it" ??
you mean end the afterlife?

that's another question with no answer.
see, this is a big part of the problem. everybody wants a f*cking answer.

there is no answer.
no one knows.
seeking an answer is futile. life is what it is.

we are star dust. that's it. nothing more, nothing less.
we are an amalgamation of organic components that have developed receptors which allow us to comprehend our surroundings using sight, sound, touch, taste, and emotion. and suddenly we want answers. just because we have the ability to ask "why?" doesn't mean there has to be a reason. it is what it is.

but this reality shouldn't scare you.
it shouldn't discourage you from living life and enjoying it. it shouldn't make you want to kill yourself. if anything it should embolden you to pursue logic and understanding; not necessarily of the world and what it means, but of yourself. knowledge of the self is the only true knowledge, and exploration of the self will bring fulfillment unlike any other pursuit.

some people pursue money. some people pursue sex. some people pursue celebrity. there is no right or wrong answer.
but remember that all of these things are as temporary as your existence. you can't take that sh*t with you when you die. in the great scheme of things, all human accomplishment is null. it's a flash in the pan. it's microscopic. the universe does not notice or care.

this life is all we have and your body is the only tool you'll be given. take the time to know and explore yourself; most people don't. hopefully you will find what it is that makes you tick, which in turn will help you find purpose in whatever form it comes.

some people claim that this type of outlook is dangerous. they might say, "if you believe in nothing, where are your morals?" they might be worried that without some kind of inexorable punishment (like the prospect of Hell) that people will simply backstab and cheat and kill and rape their way through life because they don't care or see the point.

however, in my opinion, such an outlook should only reinforce your desire to live peacefully and humbly. if you believe that we are all just here by accident and that this life is the only one we get, then it follows that we should only work to preserve this amazing gift we share. because we all feel the same pain, the same hunger, the same thirst, the same need to connect. we are sovereign individuals. no one has the right to do harm to anyone else. our obligation should be to each other because any of us could have been born into any circumstance be it privilege, poverty, or somewhere in between.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, f*ck the afterlife.
who cares?
you can't know what it is. no one can.
there's no preparing for it.
worrying about it is a monumental waste of time.

Have you seen Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers?
Gandalf pretty much explains how's the other side like.
He then describes death on the third movie:

Not being racist, it is a simple observation, but is there ANY Islamic on this planet, that doesn't believe into any kind of afterlife?

Yes, see my other post.

in the great scheme of things, all human accomplishment is null. it's a flash in the pan. it's microscopic. the universe does not notice or care.

I have been thinking a lot about that. Living in a giant universe, in one of perhaps many, where humanity is just a glimpse. Everything we do, or not do, it all seems to be so meaningless from a greater point a view.

Our earth, our existence is just like a single grain of sand on an endless beach. And even our universe might be just one of countless many.

The complexity follows a fractal structure. This "fractality" equals insanity!
