You mean RtNP's story was inconsistent. Unreal made perfect sense, hell the planet was not named Na Pali, I don't know who made that up, Na Pali were just the sky islands originally. The planet was called Gryphon, hell even the promotional material for Unreal says so. Of course in alphas and betas it was even mentioned.
Basically I don't take any game that mentions Na Pali as a planet as canon, that means even first UT.
It's pretty obvious by the time Unreal came out they were calling the planet Na Pali :p

We'll see how Bulletstorm looks later on when we have more info.

Too bad now I could only see the main and back cover of the magazine. Painkiller and Gears of War. Mhhh. I'm always up for new sequels, knowing this game is developed on UE3 and will be released on PC is a major plus. I still think the name is rather silly but I'll live with that.

The best part of Painkiller was the singleplayer game. Between the secrets and all the other fun stuff PCF packed into it, I've found myself playing it more than a few times. Count me in.

The best part of a single player game is the modding communities. You can later on see co-op mods implemented.

Who is publishing BulletStorm? I know Epic is definitively the kind that's always releasing SDK alongside their products unless there's some retarded publisher who decides not. *cough* M$ *cough*

mentions still gryphon see? There was no mention of Na Pali. Except Na Pali haven, but goddamn....when I was about to play RtNP I thought i was going to revisit the sky islands, turns out it was wrong.

Hell even Unreal PSX is more canon than that ****. The only real explanation is that it is being called Gryphon by humans and alternatively Na Pali based on the Nali language, but there was no proof about that.

Eastern European devs know how to please gamers who grew up on the Quake/Duke Nukem school of FPS. This is bound to be great.

Not here any more
I haven't purchased a new PC game in a log time.
If they don't use that online registration crud EA likes to use a lot. I will put it on my buy list.

Last games played over and over again=Serious Sam's.

Last game I bought=Tactical Ops Assault On Terror. (last week).

BULLETSTORM - FPS of the year. The philosophy behind that game totally resonates with mine. Quality, skills, great story with plenty of twists, unique weapons, 10 000 ways to kill someone, awesome gameplays, always more blood, satisfaction and a lot of fun!

That really doesn't feel like my average FPS game.

Prove what?

Epic commissioned and approved RTNP and Unreal 2, so if you're argument is that they are not officially canon, who do you think is the final word on the canon?

The name of the planet is never mentioned in the game or any of the packaging that comes with the game.

So what are the chances of this being a solid PC port, with nice controls, flexible FOV and key binding settings, and a real dedicated server system?

I'm guessing not likely. I was thinking this game could maybe be the kick in the balls the "PC Arena Deathmatch" FPS needs, but I doubt it.

Nope.

On Liandri Archives, each campaign level walkthrough has the translator messages for that level. It's obvious that Epic wanted the planet to be mysterious because they often mention the planet being uncharted and mysterious.

Unreal 2 hardly messed up the canon as it had very little to do with Unreal, thankfully.
Yes I am aware of that, but there were certain changes of personnel and not the whole team who worked on Unreal worked later on UT games etc, so I think I will still consider UT stuff as non canon, only as spinoff and own canon maybe. ;)

Yes the planet is not mentioned, except "return to na pali" in the name, the planet however is mentioned in UT description messages etc...as Na Pali, but that was post rtnp and its clear it was intended to be called Gryphon. Maybe Na Pali is just intended as alternative name that got in use after events of Unreal based on Nali language? Who knows...

sigh all those canon inconsistences everywhere

But who do I think is the final word on the canon? Me, of course.....

I wonder what the "Headshot +50" or "Afterburner +50" messages are (visible in the scans).

The last Duke Nukem Forever movie/fantrailer/whatever sure looked a lot better. This looks like any other UE3 game.

It sounds like a PC game just based on the description in the Game Informer article. What they're talking about would require a mouse and keyboard.

My hopes aren't high either. :( But they are still there.

EDIT:
Just saw the scans. I think it is a fresh breath and totally different from what what we got from EPIC in the last 5 years: Angsty Teenagers hiding their pathetic emo-ness in bulky suits and calling themselves Reaper, Marcus or so.
