Under the bridge downtown.
I find crystal glow too intense. It looks just like a ball of light attached to its root.

Lens flares. However, I feel like the glowy crystals provide to the mystical/unrealistic atmosphere within the map. I tried removing them but I feel like the map looks better with the flares. However I could tone it down a bit.

Yes, I think a small change is enough. The flares just stand out too much from the crystals. You could try reducing the saturation and brightness of the flares a little.

Regardless, the map is looking really good.

Borderlands? In any case it's great, I've always liked your style and this no exception. It oozes of Kanthaminess.

It'd be cool if you could convert that material to UT3 and make a unique looking map that everyone could play! Good job!

That's looking really nice Slainchild. Simple yet effective.

Here's what I've been working on, began importing meshes and lightmaps which is quite boring. Also the lighting looks off so I guess I'm gonna have to tweak the lighting in blender and rebake the whole thing something I'm not particularly looking forward too. But still ambient occlusion and soft shadows are awesome.

Yes. The game is Borderlands, read how to access the editor here.

It's working, but there's just a lot to learn about it, especially all it's inconveniences and unexpected crashes. otherwise It's fun to toy around with. I can only hope everything works at the end, co-op wise especially. Enough to say that we delivered user-made DLC.

I like the fact that I didn't need to texture it at all, in order to make it interesting. My main weekness with modeling is texturing, so I was able to pull off some of my imagination. The map is part of a project I'm working on, it's not part of actual gameplay; it's more of a future access terminal.

nice looking stuff there Katham! (as always!)

I'm gone the other direction and getting Malevolence off my list:

The inside shot is UT99. The aim is to get the map to look close but at the same time with a little more high def materials

Looks as awful as the original, if that's what you intended.

Hopefully there are some eyecandies and details yet to come?

I loved that map! It was my favourite in UT.

I am starting out with the base and textures will be similar but different by the time it's done. I didn't think the original was that hideous.

I can't get over a twisted logic that love means rape. Malevolence is of course nice map (not one of favourites though), but what's the point of porting a monothonous set of gray boxes to UT3? 2004 version looks ok, but this is just ridiculous. You could play original instead.

Ahh, I see you're also author of Takk, which still looks very minimal but ar least makes use of modern technology. The result is very pleasant to an eye.

As Will malevolence when it's done. those pictures are unlit by the way. Which is why they are looking so bland.

As for Takk, that was set out to be minimal and oldskool looking.

This map is old and I wanted to also demonstrate to people that UT to UT3 scaling is to all intents and purposes indentical. There was only one brush that needed to be altered for that map.

Rest assured that Malevolence will be prettier when done :)
