The Japanese non-release has a LOT more to do with the resentment of America by Japan at this point in time. They've also crapped all over Dead Space over there disallowing it's release along with a barrage of other games semi-recently.

I'm not certain of the exact socio-political reasons behind it all, (other than even my general opinion that America's gov't is doing a ton of illicit sh1t around the world right now) but for some reasons Japan specifically is very angry with us atm.

As for Germany, they're just doing more of their same old tired routine. "Violence doesn't exist!"" Nosing happened! Ve vere all on vacation!" (with thanks to Family Guy)

Well, the characters in GoW look like tough adults instead of femalesque androgyns or purple-haired teens showing their panties.

No wonder it won't be released in Japan. Everything over there has to look like a childrens' game.

And I am sure I haven't seen any tentacle-rape in GoW so far.

Germany I can understand, but what's the issue in japan?

They also lost a war. If you lose a war, you must pretend to be a harmless pacifist ***** for a while, at least until the next war...

Boy do I expect some heat ...

Laws governing legal minors should be dealt with directly. People shouldnt complain about the the application of the law - discuss the law itself.

This has nothing to do with 'protecting' (ooh, save the chillldrunn!) minors; it's about banning a game outright, so technically even grown men aren't allowed to play it. That kind of condescending, paternalistic attitude is totally unacceptable, and those who support it are either petty fascist busybodies or scared, feeble-minded sheep. IMHO.

Be carefull with what you are writing. WW2 is still a painfull bad subject in the EU. You can hurt quite a few people by writing like this (especially in germany). I know you probably can't imagine it, but a lot of people still feel about it that way (maybe we all should, who knows). Just treat it with more respect next time please.

They look like kids' action figures! GoW always seemed like a game more for kids (early teens at least?) to me, except they took it and added a bunch of gore and cursing (make it more appealing and "forbidden" to them?). Then again, maybe it just has to do with CliffyB's mentality more than anything.

I doubt the cut in Japan has anything to do with violence and kiddy stuff.
Being someone who watches anime, Ive seen some violent and gory anime that would get censored up the rear if it was to be brought to America and the FCC got its hands on it.

Its more likely because like someone else said, Japan isnt hot on the 360. Their game culture is more Sony and Nintendo

Yeah, it's kind of like how we see "buy American", they see and are told by their gov't "buy Japanese, better yet, here we'll only put Japanese on your store shelves, there ya go." .. oh and "when you're done pissing all over this product for a few years maybe a decade, we'll repackage it with some retarded translations and ship it to America, those idiots will buy anything."

It is allowed, please boogler, we all know you have no clue, no need to show it in every second post. It must not be advertised because it is "indexed" but it is allowed to own it even and to be sold "under the counter".

Hey MORON, if you CANNOT walk into a store in GERMANY and BUY GEARS OF WAR or GEARS OF WAR 2 that means ummmmmmmm IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL. That DOES NOT MEAN people can't buy the game from outlets that are OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTRY and sent to THEM. Jeez what do they teach you at TROLL UNIVERSITY.

CONSOLE PIRACY!!!

This is why people torrent video games. Now you have your answer cliffyB

About that i have a couple of friends that they do that about GEARS 2 since yesterday, they are playing the campaign but they are afraid of the BANN if they go to XBOX live! to test the multiplayer, bloody pirates! (they have mod chips on their 360s)

And about japan is very weird because the japanese guys are more looking for COSPLAY girls and anime porn more than violence games and stuff like that

This guy is still on read-only right?

I suppose epic doesn't want to waste time removing gore from gears just to sell it in one country.
