Personally, I refuse to see it as human nature. Seeing it as culture allows a much more optimistic view of the world, which gives some more room for improvement.
Even if you believe in such a thing, then it should be 'better you than us' - not 'me'.It IS human nature. the better you than me mindset is ingrained in us, it's a simple survival mechanism
Having sex is human nature, and so is eating, no one can deny that.
But there are people who go on hunger-strike, or who don't have sex (eg. priests).
Humans are intelligent beings, and we can "override" our instincts to some degree.
Although this may be possible for single individuals, I think it is very hard accomplish, if not impossible, to accomplish this for large groups (ie. a society)
Of course culture (Or more general: The environment) is important, but cultures are also remarkably similar, the list of traits all known cultures share is quite long (see http://condor.depaul.edu/~mfiddler/hyphen/humunivers.htm).
Haha, you know how many old convents have had the skeletal remains of babies buried under them (not to mention the catholic priests and their love of little boys)? Human nature is human nature try to deny it all you want but eventually we all succumb to it. Those traits are still instinctual despite thousands of years of "Civilization" (which i still see more as domestication than actual progress. It smooths some of our sharper edges ; makes us slightly less aggressive and slightly more complacent, but no less dangerous). Nothing is going to change that. Humanity is the most versatile creature ever when it comes to matters of destruction and depravity. We are most innovative when we are finding new and ever more creative ways to destroy ourselves and every creature that shares this planet with us. Tell yourself whatever you'd like to help you sleep at night rostam, but humanity as a whole is just another animal. We're just as savage, instinctual, and unpredictable as any other predator. We're a parasite, we drain the life's blood and resources out of everything we touch.
As negative as that sounds it really gives you a sense of freedom when you think of it that way. Plus all human interaction makes more sense if you look at it honestly. We are but animals, we do the same instinctual things that most animals do, and while there are some who suppress those instinctual habits they, just like animals that lack or suppress their natural instincts, will ultimately die their way out of the genepool.
i'm a retard
I don't disagree there, I'm just saying people, groups, society etc can change. Human nature takes a lot of time to change, it is a slow mechanism and in a lot of ways we are still built to hunt and gather food. That doesn't mean things are hopeless (and thus give you freedom) - it means you just have to focus on every other factor available (such as culture).Tell yourself whatever you'd like to help you sleep at night rostam, but humanity as a whole is just another animal.
you should tattoo "nothing short of a civil war will fix this country" on your forehead so that you can wear those words for the rest of your life and look at them every day until you die.
Not much short of a civil war can fix this country.
you're stupid.
Either way, if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute, you should instead choose to keep quiet.
Intelligence shows itself in what we can contribute to conversation. Whether you agree or disagree with what i say, you seem to lack the intelligence to form a decent response. Perhaps it's a cognitive problem you were born with, perhaps you are just a dumbass. Either way, if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute, you should instead choose to keep quiet.
Harrm, I'm so happy that you are an illiterate douche. It makes me so happy.
Thanks for posting! Have a nice day!
Oh. Okay, you should tattoo those words on your forehead then because I'm sure you'll still agree with that statement in a decade. Do you live in the US? Are you even old enough to vote?
Go away. You write at a 5th grade level and take arguments on the internet seriously. As far as I'm concerned, you make me look fantastic by comparison.
