I'm in the market for a photo quality printer (under or around $300) and I was wondering which is the best quality for the price.
Quality is the overriding factor, pages per minute is secondary (I have a b/w laser printer for everyday printing). I plan on printing out my photos at at least 5x7 to frame and put on my wall. (photography is one of my hobbies) I've heard good things about the Cannon S800 and the HP 1315 or 1215, is there any others I should consider (Epson?). thanks.

I would definitely consider getting an epson, I got one for under 300 dollars about a year and a half ago, and it prints very very close to photo quality, it looked really good. The only problem with it is that it takes a while to turn on and off (makes a bunch of noise, I guess it's cleaning the head or something) but that's my only gripe. It's a great printer. Oh yeah, and it's real fast compared to the HP's.

bah, real photographers use gelatin film and make prints in a darkroom :P (actually, i use computers all the time for my photography). i have an epson 1440. ive found it very good, though im not so interested in quality. i mainly use it to make very large prints to be used in large pieces of artwork. but it does have the advantage of printing A3 pages, though isnt really the best printer around.

lol, I use a darkroom too.
![]() Although, I don't really care for renting a room out, paying for the chemicals and the photo paper too. At least with a printer, I can individualize my work and stay at home.
